The Sea Bass was a total suprise. More often than not I am dissapointed when I order fish. Not the case here. The presentation was superb. The blend of flavors, textures and colors was an epicurean delight. Our waiter/bartender Damany was thoughtful, always on point without being intrusive. The whole experience was one worth repeating.

Usually love this place, but we went on Sunday for oysters and my entire family got food poisoning.

This is my second time trying raw oysters, and the experience is amazing. I had one each of the oysters from the menu, and my favorite was the cannon cave. I'm super thankful for the bartender. She explained to me the difference in the brine of each oyster.
The clams are fresh and tender, though I find them fisher than the oysters. That just doesn't suit my taste.
For drink, I had “say jalapeño to my little friend”. I love it. It's perfectly spicy and smokey. The tajin on the rim and the jalapeño slices are a cherry on top.

Hank’s Oyster Bar in Old Town Alexandria is a true gem for seafood lovers! The atmosphere is vibrant and welcoming, and their rooftop offers a fantastic spot to enjoy fresh oysters with a view. Their happy hour is unbeatable, with a great selection of oysters that are incredibly fresh and delicious. The staff is friendly and attentive, always making great recommendations from the menu. Whether you’re an oyster aficionado or just want a fun place to unwind with friends, Hank’s never disappoints. Can’t wait for my next visit—highly recommend!

Brady provided excellent customer service! We had oysters, lobster rolls, deviled eggs and signature cocktails. Each item was more delicious than the previous on the menu. Beautiful rooftop view of North Old Town and fantastic ambiance and decor. We had such a lovely time! Cannot wait to be back!

Food: 2.5 / 5

We ordered:
- Lobster bisque: 4/5
- seafood tower for 2 : 2.5 /5 .
Oyster and clams are good. However, seafood ceviche and mussels salad or something are 0/5 , it so bad, so terrible. It doesn't have any flavor besides cold. Shrimp cocktail is a little overcooked.

- Fish and chip: 2.5 / 5, too salty and a little over old bay.

Had a rather odd encounter with the hostess today (10/6). Went in around 3pm and asked if I could take a seat at the rooftop bar. The hostess told me all of upstairs was closed. That's it, no follow up. I figured she meant for the day and so sat at the bar downstairs and ordered food and a drink. About 5 minutes later, a couple came in asking to sit on the rooftop and she told them that they could go up in 5 minutes. I'd wanted to sit on the rooftop so was more than a little irritated that I wasn't offered the same option/information. The food and the rest of the service was fine if definitely overpriced. The $70 I paid for a 1/2 dozen oysters, fried calamari, and a single margarita MIGHT have been worth it if I'd been able to sit on the rooftop during a nice Sunday afternoon in Old Town. Alas, I wasn't and so it wasn't.

We went for brunch and showed up around 1pm. It wasn’t that busy. I got the lobster bisque and the smoked salmon reuben. My guest got the clam chowder and crab cake Benedict.

The lobster bisque was good, not great. Plenty of lobster but the flavor of the soup was off as if the ingredients weren’t balanced properly. The color was almost caramel colored opposed to what I’m used to seeing and that off color was reflected in the off taste. The reuben was ok but the remoulade and coleslaw overpowered the salmon. I really didn’t taste it.

My friend ordered the crab cake benedict . She was seated such that she could see the kitchen. (And we were right in front of it.) She watched as a plate of the crab cake benedict was brought back to the kitchen and then that same plate was brought to her. We weren’t sure if this was a plate someone didn’t want or if it was delivered to the wrong table. Regardless, when she got it the plate was cold. She asked to have it replaced, which they kindly did, and that was cold. But she enjoyed it, just said she’d have enjoyed it more if it had been hot. The manager kindly removed it from our check without us even asking.

I wouldn’t totally write the place off, but I wouldn’t rush back.

Very disappointed in the food. We’ve been coming to Hank’s since they were on King Street. Had the crab cake , it was so small. What happened to a crab cake that fit the bun??? Paid way too much for so little.
