The food was surprisingly bland. I had the arancini, the wild mushroom bolognese, and the hummingbird cake. Nothing wowed me. If I hadn’t been very hungry, and knew I was paying so much for it, I’d have left my food uneaten and concentrated only on my amazing cocktail.Location is gorgeous. Service was attentive. And my drinks were fantastic. I’d 100% skip the food and come here for their phenomenal cocktails. I had one with Earl Grey in it… it was so good.

Great view of the water! JP was a great server/help. The French onion soup is AMAZING! Rich, perfectly seasoned and unseemingly when you look at the bowl, a very ample serving. I liked the black truffle popcorn as well but I'm biased because I really like popcorn. It's a unique offering as a snack at a hotel but the serving size (a deep-ish bowl) was ok for the price. The Winter Salad was super good and amply dressed for my taste. I would've had the salmon with it if the soup wasn't so delicious that I ate every spoonful. ? I'll go for that next time. It's in Hotel Indigo but it's not owned by the hotel. Just a fact.Highly recommend this quiet, serene restaurant for brunch or lunch and a drink. I'll go back for dinner at some point so I'll update my review then.Vegetarian options: There are multiple salad options.

Very cute restaurant near the water with attentive staff and service. I visited for restaurant week, and was able to find many items on the menu that I wanted to try. The French onion soup was really good and a perfect starter. My entrée was the Burgundy braised short ribs, which was good, but lacked a little bit of seasoning. For dessert, I had the hummingbird cake, which was unique, but I don’t think I would order it again. Overall very pleasant meal and evening. I would dine here again.

We went here for brunch because the website menu said smoked salmon benedict which we both wanted. Get to the restaurant and it's not on the menu. Ok, disappointing after paying $20 for parking to eat here. If you take something off your menu, update your website. Smoked salmon is not seasonal. So, I order shredded beef hash and poached eggs. Husband ordered Eggs Benedict with Virginia COUNTRY ham with the hollandaise ON THE SIDE because he doesn't like his eggs drowning in it. Not only did the dish come smothered in hollandaise, the ham is most definitely not Virginia COUNTRY ham, it is regular ham. My beef hash looked like it was left over and reheated potatoes, a few pieces of very tiny cubed dried out steak, not shredded beef. Before we could say anything, the waiter was gone (we were in the little room off from the main dining room). Also, the potatoes were cold. Waited for waiter to come back but after a while, we switched entrees because I don't mind eggs drowning in hollandaise. But, it was not what I wanted because I had really good eggs benedict yesterday at another restaurant. The waiter never returned except to bring our check. After spending 75.00, not including parking, our experience was that nothing about this restaurant is as advertised even on their own menu. The management or chef should care more about the quality of food that comes out of the kitchen and that customers get what they advertise. I wish I could attach photos.

The food here is actually fantastic; my husband and I have never been disappointed and have gotten a wide variety of items (fish, roasted chicken, meatloaf, etc.). The hummingbird cake is awesome, of course, and the atmosphere is cute and you can see the water. My favorite part about this place is that as long as they’re not hosting an event like a wedding, it’s actually pretty easy to get a table compared to other Old Town restaurants and the vibe is more relaxed/calm because it’s not as busy.

Everything was good. There signature is not so good but I can’t say bad too. I like there pistachio cake more in dessert. Also for vegetarians there wild mushrooms bolognese pasta is must try. We also love the bbq grilled chicken. Also in appetizers, fried oysters and trio of dips is must try. Perfect for date night.

Went to dinner here with significant other for anniversary and had a wonderful time. we had the whole Branzino fish which was amazing, cocktails and wine followed by their delicious Hummingbird cake. The staff was great, servers very attentive and the manager made sure that we were doing ok throughout our meal.

My friends and I went for winter restaurant week! I enjoyed my entire meal: the prickly pear cocktail, winter salad, bbq chicken (with Mac n cheese and sauteed kale), and the hummingbird cake. There were clean plates all around the table!Kid-friendliness: We brought our 3-month-old in his bassinet stroller, and he had plenty of space, which we appreciated

This was a lovely spot on the river to have dinner. It was a little hectic on New Year's Eve, but still a great dinner.

The pros:- View of the river/locationThe cons:- Small entree portions, for the price- No free refills on soda- 12oz draft beer priced like a pint- $12 drink in a Champagne glass with head- No complimentary bread- Restroom paper towel dispenser is a joke- Street parking onlyBottom line: You pay a lot for very little. I’ve been to Vola’s twice and never felt so much regret. We won’t be back.
