Java Loco Coffee & Bubble Tea - Mt Vernon

They don’t do refunds or exchanges here for drinks. If you get your drink made wrong or are a first time customer there and don’t know much about boba then they can’t exchange the drink for you or remake it. The employees there don’t know much about the products they serve and just give you recommendations based on which drink or food is selling the most. I went there to exchange my drink because I didn’t like it, amongst other things, and wanted a different drink. I sat and waited for about 5 minutes and then one of the employees came over to me and pulled me to the side with a small drink of what I wanted in exchange for the large drink I had previously ordered. She proceeded to lecture me on their policy of no exchanges or refunds and then felt bothered whenever I tried to speak and just kept saying “We don’t exchange or refund drinks it’s our policy”. I felt ashamed because the other customers were staring and didn’t want to make a scene, plus I paid $8 for the drink, so I just left with my small drink.

Vietnamese Coffee 10/10. Decor is cute. It's surprising that this place was completely empty when I visited.

I keep going to java loco for their bubble tea because it was good and tasty, but now, I think this will be my last time to spend my hard earned money at java loco because their bubble tea is WATERED DOWN...It's like drinking iced water with a little flavor!!! I was so disappointed. To top it all off, it cost too much for a bubble tea that was WATERED DOWN and with too much ice!

5/3/2025: I was eyeing the honeydew melon smoothie. But, since it was before noon, I went with the large iced caramel macchiato. I paid $7.10; coffee’s getting expensive these days. It was too sweet for my liking and could have had a few more ice cubes as it was more warm than iced. After letting it rest, it cooled down. I will say, I rank their espresso better than Starbucks but lower than Peet’s Coffee.

I should’ve went with my gut and tried the honeydew melon smoothie with honey boba :(

Maybe next time…

We got the rose milk tea & the mango, too, & you could tell they make the mango puree & rose simple syrup or tea or whatever it is in house or somewhere local. The rose tasted like real rose not too sugary & very fresh. The mango tasted & felt like just real mango. Boba is on the firmer side, which isn't always my favorite, but this was just perfect, no littly dry pit in the center. DELICIOUS REAL FRUIT & HERBS IN THE TEAS GREAT BOBA

Came for the Vietnamese iced coffee and cappuccino. Both were excellent and there was a cute section to sit and enjoy the drinks. Great spot for coffee lovers in the Mount Vernon area.

I like the sandwiches and drinks here. I had thought about dining in before I arrived there. But today whenI walked in, I noticed the tables and the floor under all the tables were dirty. The area where the sugar, trash receptacle is was also dirty. It is only 9 am. I can't imagine they had that many customers yet. Just makes me wonder how often they clean in there. The workers there sure don't appear to be interested in doing it.

sometimes they play the music a little too loud for my liking but overall i love this cafe

plenty of drink options from smoothies to coffee to boba. they also have pastries and sandwiches

The bubble tea here is decent. However the service seems to be hit or miss in getting the order correct. Last visit I asked for 3 milk teas, and received 3 smoothies instead. I recommend not reading from the smoothie menu to select flavors (even though it's the same flavors on the milk tea side) as I think they may assume you'll want a smoothie rather than listen to the order. Second, always get the receipt printed or emailed to verify. I made the mistake of not emailing or printing the receipt and was unable to justify the mistake in order. In every instance I've offered to pay again, which is a bit frustrating as there is no attempt by the business or manager to try to make the situation right or offer to maybe pay just a portion the second time around.

The staff here WON'T BOTHERED ASKING HOW MUCH ICE YOU WANT AND WILL AUTOMATICALLY PUT 50% ICE! Leaving you with nothing of the actual tea!
