Very good! Went for a family graduation dinner, had a great wine selection as well as the food. Family loved the oysters and cabbage, and the stand out entres were the gnocchi and the rockfish. Would definitely reccomend.

We have been meaning to try Kiln for a while, and were not disappointed. The restaurant is cozy. The servers were all very dedicated and attentive. And the food was delicious! The cabbage in particular impressed us. Kiln is working hard to serve its hotel clientele from around the country while competing in Old Town - a difficult line to walk. I hope Kiln will continue to learn and grow and become another Old Town staple.

My wife surprised me with a nice night out for Valentine’s Day. We both own bussiness so it’s hard for us to find time between work and our children. So when we walked in I was elated. The place was nice but we weren’t greeted when we walked in. We had reservations at 8:30. We chose to sit at the chefs table. Because my wife loves cooking and I thought it would be a great idea.

We were wrong. It took us an hour and half to get our food. We had 2 cocktails that entire time. No staff stopped. We had to ask random staff members for items. We spend a lot of money when we go out. We are foodies and we enjoy our time trying different cuisines. We watched the entire restaurant eat and leave. We walked in at 8:20 pm. We didn’t get our food until 10:30pm. We couldn’t order dessert or anything else. We spent $350 to watch the food channel. And then feed us like dogs when we ordered 2 hours ago.

My wife was devastated. she was hungry and tired after the work day. We just wanted to enjoy our night but this place will NEVER see us. The food was bland. The service was lack luster. And the fact I watched my wife in tears because she felt that Kiln ruined our night.

Never again. Horrible service. Don’t eat here. Plain and simple. Just cook at home or go somewhere else.

We loved this place about a year ago and specifically planned to come back because everything was so great. We loved the pork from our previous visit and honestly talked about it for months after getting it. Unfortunately this time it was not a good experience. We started with the steak tartare which was way over seasoned to the point that it might as well have been ground beef taco meat. Then, the mains we had pork and steak. The pork was way overdone, dry, and had absolutely no flavor, and the steak was underdone and needed more seasoning to be palatable. Both of our drinks were just ok. I couldn't tell my old fashioned was anything but bourbon, but straight bourbon is good by itself.... Just not worth $19 a drink for basic bourbon. After raising my displeasure with ONLY the pork being overcooked, the manager offered to refire or give me the sauce they use on the duck and felt overly aggressive and short with me during or interaction as if I was inconveniencing HER for my poorly cooked food. I could have complained about much more of the experience but held my tongue. Eventually they removed the pork from the cheque. Suffice to say that management needs to take customer feedback more seriously, and take care of their wait staff who bear the brunt of the complaints. We will not be coming back unless something changes.

Fantastic and innovative food. Great service. I highly recommend sitting at the counter to get a good view of the food being prepared. Fairly pricey, but that’s to be expected. Perfect for a nice date.

We were very disappointed with our experience at this restaurant. The service staff seemed poorly trained. When we asked about how certain dishes were prepared, the server was unable to provide basic information. The service during food delivery was also lacking professionalism and courtesy.

I ordered a $67 aged steak, and unfortunately it was served cold. For that price, I expected much better quality and attention to detail.

Additionally, we ordered the tartare as an appetizer, and shortly after eating it, my husband experienced immediate stomach discomfort. That was very concerning.

Overall, we spent around $300, and the experience was simply not worth the price. We expected a much higher standard of food and service.

We had a late reservation on Valentine's Day, so we knew what we were getting ourselves into. However, almost every step of the experience included a mishap and the service, though cordial, was a mess – it was exceedingly difficult to track down a server, and even when someone came by, they didn't stick around long enough to actually help us. No one seemed to know what was going on, my martini came in a champagne flute, my boyfriend's beer glass was dirty, my entree was unfinished (the ricotta gnocchi did not have ricotta on it), and the food was fine, but not worth the experience. The entire meal took much longer than it needed to, and this was at 9 pm when the restaurant was half empty. TLDR; I would probably not go back. (Also we ate off of the main menu not the prix-fixe)

Food was decent but the kitchen was not able to handle the Valentine's Day rush. For example My wife and I both got lamb as our entree, mine was cold while my wife's was the right temperature.

Good experience- good individually prepared. Recommend sitting at the chef's counter so you can watch the chefs at work.

Overall, the ambiance and service at Kiln was very good. However, the portions of the food compared to the price did not match.

Great place for breakfast. I booked this place to meeting a business colleague and it was the perfect location and atmosphere. Staff were very friendly and attentive and the food was great.

We enjoyed the Restaurant Week Menu and cocktails and everything was absolutely delicious!!!

I admit I was initially skeptical of the 4.0 Google rating—which can feel a little low for a restaurant of this caliber—but after visiting for Restaurant Week, I have to agree that it is an accurate score. This place definitely deserves a 4/5: it’s good, but falls short of being great.

The Good:
The ambiance is wonderful. The decor has a cozy, upscale 60s-70s vibe, and the open kitchen adds a great energy to the room. The staff were also a highlight in terms of attitude; everyone was incredibly friendly and went above and beyond to engage with our toddler, which we really appreciated.

The Not-So-Good:
For the price point ($55/person for the restaurant week menu, before cocktails), the value just wasn't there. While the food was mostly good, it was hampered by under-seasoning and wildly inconsistent portion sizes. One main dish was so large two people couldn't finish it, while another was essentially four bites of food. The other courses were consistently small, in line with other high cuisine restaurants.

The service pacing was also hit-or-miss. While the staff was lovely, the waits between courses were long, and flagging someone down for the check (or even having them ask if we were ready) took much longer than it should have.

Verdict:
Kiln is a beautiful space with a lot of potential, but the kitchen and service pacing need to tighten up to justify the price.

Glad I'm writing and not my dinner partners- they'd be less kind I fear! First time to Kiln, their first restaurant week, and it was the first day, too, before a snow event. The menu looked good, but as some other restaurants do, they ask that all at table order from restaurant menu or none do... a couple of our friends did NOT like this... We ordered cocktails and all came except one that took easily 5 more minutes while others were waiting to imbibe. We all decided restaurant menu items looked interesting so.... apps came - lamb ribs delicious!, tuna crudo delicious, roasted romanesco tasted more like raw cauliflower than roasted but edible. Entrees were a poached snapper decent, good portion; crispy pork belly - very good, sizable portion; squash tortelloni - 3 tortellonis with barely cooked butternut squash and a barely there sauce. This is what sent my friends overt the top... First off one diner's dinner was served much later than the rest - again, service or kitchen booboo?? When the tortellonis were served, the dish looked like a small app portion, certainly not a dinner sized portion (even for restaurant week). We exclaimed to our server who actually agreed (having thought the same when they tasted earlier) and we asked for the manager. We explained a few things and he was apologetic and comped a round of drinks and brought a lot of extra desserts (nice, but we were 5 women who are relatively fit and having deserts already, didn't really need nor want any further sweets). A couple suggestions for the manager - teach your staff to identify themselves - we had to ask our server's name - she was delightful and helpful, and the manager never did identify himself - I asked if he WAS the manager as he brought over something, but he never introduced himself. Secondly, please time serving all items at the same time - don't delay one item while the rest of the table sits and waits ...

This was my first visit to Kiln and won't be my last. It's walking distance from my church so a very convenient location for Sunday brunch. I was surprised at how quiet it was. The ambience is nice. The hostess and servers were very friendly. I had french toast and my husband had the lemon ricotta pancakes. The portions were filling but not excessive. I had one of the best oat milk lattes I've had in a long time so needed to order a second one to go. The menu isn't very big but we liked what we had.
