Came here based on reviews ( Yelp, best burrito in VA) and left disappointed. Since it's voted best burrito we ordered burritos. They are huge and heavy! I got grilled chicken and it was bland. The salsa Verde helped, but not enough. DH got Chile Verde and it wasn't very Verde. We also got a few of the oversized cookies and they were hard as rocks. Staff were nice and I would go back to try other things, but as far as burritos, it leaves a bit to be desired.

The food was extremely bland which was disappointing because it looked amazing. I ordered birria tacos and chips and salsa. I was surprised when I saw my chips and salsa. They had just put the salsa over the chips instead of in a cup for dipping. Very strange but it was ok. The chips were crispy but the salsa was meh. The tacos were a little under ok. The texture of the meat would have thrown me off is the tortilla wasn't so crispy. Generous portions but with mediocre food that's not much of a win. The service was fine but I was thrown off by the man sweeping and mopping directly by me as if it had to be done at that very minute. Literally sweeping the dirt towards me and almost swept my feet if I hadn't said something. But he was right back at it with the same thing when he started mopping. I was very annoyed by the whole situation. It's a one star because while it wasn't the worst thing I've ever had I definitely won't be coming here again.

Ordered the torta de carne.. the bread was so stale it was so hard to bite into. The worst torta I've ever had.. very upsetting. Also order the birrias and they were ok. Wasn't given enough napkins (literally 3 small napkins) for 2 people having BIRRIA. Wouldn't come back. 2 stars cause the horchata was the best. Also music playing felt like I was at a nail salon?! Should probably consider playing Mexican music

I found this restaurant searching on Yelp and decided to try it based on the amazing reviews. The food was very fresh and came out in a timely manner. We ordered the birria tacos 5/5 sooo good and authentic. Probably the best I have ever had. They were even good after a 30 min drive home. The prices were amazing and we cannot wait to return. Pork tamale was 5/5 sooo flavorful. Pupusas 5/5 very good Rice and Beans both were delicious 5/5 Guac was good but could use a little more lime and salt 3/5. Pico and salsa were tasty 5/5.

Tacos de carne asada were good! The tacos de al pastor tasted nothing like authentic ones. It gave me more of an uncooked chorizo. I also had a tres leches cake, not great. It was very dry (the bottom of the cake had a splash of milk not even a tres leche concoction, icing wasn't great). Service was great! I haven't found a great authentic Mexican restaurant near by, this is by far decent
I will forever be a customer. They make you feel like family, even if your Spanish is badI lived in Texas for 12 yrs, & my hunt for Mexican was OVER when I found them. I've been loyal since 2014, you'll see me Every taco, every torta, every tres leches is some kind of wonderful.

My wife bought a Rosca de Reyes yesterday, Jan 6 2024, for día de los magos.The rosca was dry and tasteless. I’ve eaten a million of these and have spent time in Mexico. So I know what a good rosca tastes like. And for $37.20, including an 18% tip that you can’t avoid, you expect top quality. Not dry garbage.I never complain about anything but I really wanted my money back. I brought the 3/4 of the rosca that we did not eat back and asked for our money.The owner was a complete jerk! He told me that my wife should have tried the samples first before buying. My wife said there weren’t any samples. He then said I should have brought the whole thing back. Of course that makes no sense because you can’t complain about a product if you haven’t tried it.I’m no whiner and I don’t try and scam anyone. I was nice with this guy but he just flat out was rotten!So, please. Eat elsewhere. La Costalilla is right up the road and is better. More importantly they are nicer!
