Wish I can give it more start for the service but the main dish was not good. Michael was our waiter. What a character. He was attentive, funny, and helpful. They also have another waiter who was helping keep an eye on everyone. He was good at asking if we needed refills or anything. Ordered the mahi mahi and it was tasteless and dry. Pasta was almost al dente and just undercooked. Pasta was tasteless too, unfortunately. The French fries were good. The Malbec was delicious and the atmosphere was quiet and soothing. Great oldies playing (John senatra type).

We made a reservation for Magnolia Southern cuisine. We walked in and our lovely hostess told us it is under new management and now is afull Italian restaurant as of today. The website is not up to date. Please be aware.

Not the Same Magnolia's. I'd been hoping to visit Magnolia on King's since before the pandemic because I heard such good things about their soul food. Although I saw the name changed from Magnolia on King's to just Magnolia's, I was under the impression that it had the same kind of menu and chef. The current website is still "magnoliaonkings" so I had no reason to think any different. Unfortunately I was wrong and the menu was far from a soul food menu. The good: the deviled eggs were good, so we had high hopes because it was the first thing we ordered. The Cajun fries were also pretty good. The bad: Everything else. The biscuits came out cold, so cold that the butter wouldn't even melt on them. The Mac and cheese was not good at all and the chicken wings were bland. I don't know what the previous Magnolia's on King's tasted like, but based on the previous reviews and pictures it was much better than this current rendition. Don't come expecting to get a soul food experience.

Very beautiful ambiance I would actually say a hidden gem because I've passed this place on several occasions and never wandered in. Food: Appetizer Spicy Crab dip very good severed warm. I would've preferred my bread a little more toasted. Deviled Eggs with bacon very good severed chilled. Main Course: Magnolia Linguine with spicy shrimp served hot but short on flavor. It was mainly missing Umami ... something was missing. The shrimp were juicy and large in size but I think because the proteins were prepared separately the Umami taste was absent. Service: Very attentive server and he was very punctual with all courses considering he was the only one working the small dining area. Would I return maybe we were told the kitchen is overhauling some things but I did like the intimacy of the dining area..: would make a LOVELY date night spot for the Romantics

Great customer service. They were busy but the host sat me upstairs. The crab cakes were delicious. I'll definitely visit again.

Don't go! Folks the place is under new ownership and management. I had previously been to Magnolia a few times over a year ago and it was wonderful. However, now the place is a complete disaster. They are short staff, so be patient. It took us 30 minutes to get a drink, the entrees were horrible, and the waiters were inexperienced and not capable of taking a correct due to a language barrier. The only thing positive I could say is that the deviled eggs were fantastic.

This was a disappointing experience. I had been to a Magnolias in Charleston, SC and was very pleased with the food, atmosphere, and service. This was far from that. First, the staff was dressed in clothes not fit to go out of the house. The waiter informed us that the upstairs was close due to staffing. The space downstairs was small and loud super loud. You could barely hear the other person talk. Food took a long time, luke warm and drinks tasted badly. Friends spoke of this place prior to then remodeling and had nice things to say.

A hidden gem in Alexandria and a must try if you love Southern food and great atmosphere. The crab dip is rich and flavourful, the biscuits are pure buttery goodness, and the gumbo was delicious. I could go on, but I highly recommend experiencing it yourself (especially the gouda Mac n cheese...worth it).Our server/bartender was fantastic and the recommendations were spot on. The cocktails were refreshing (and effective) and the server even asked us our preferences, less sweet/more sweet, ect. We'll be back to try the all day brunch menu soon!

OMG. Love the smoked mac and cheese, crispy bacon Brussels sprouts and deviled eggs apps. Looking forward to trying the main meals the next time. Great servers, music and the new owner since a few months mid 2022. Highly recommend!

First time customer-the place was empty at 6pm on a Friday!? The food was adequate-really no flavor and super expensive for what it was served. We ordered 3 apps-deviled eggs, wrapped dates and chicken wings -very small portions and just ok We then ordered the brunch eggs Benedict of all different types -again no seasoning-I've eaten eggs Benedict all over the USA -these were actually bland! I give it two stars for the location and the service was good -but then again the place was empty! We bought for the four of us -with one wine and one Bloody Mary ( also very weak) Total Rip Off! The bill came to $206.00!! Then to add insult to injury-they added the 20% tip into the bill automatically-unbelievable! Truly Not Worth The Experience At All! Wish we had gone down the block -ANYWHERE!

Came here for my mother's birthday and I will be a repeat customer. I love a good brunch with good service, and Magnolia's on King didn't disappoint. Located on King Street in Alexandria, Va (a beautiful area if you want to walk around and enjoy your day after your meal), the restaurant is located in an unassuming yellow row house You have to make a reservation, we were a bit delayed (because of me LOL), but they sat us immediately. We were greeted right away and when I was unhappy with my table, I asked to be moved, and they did so with no complaints The food overall is delicious, the only meal I didn't care for was the stuffed dates (bleu cheese, applewood smoked bacon and ranch). For some reason, it just wasn't appetizing (and I like dates) Deviled Eggs (pimento cheese whipped yolks, candied bacon) and Spicy Crab Dip (siracha, cream cheese, old bay, baguette) were shared amongst the group. The Spicy Crab Dip didn't even it back home (as originally planned). It was fresh, hot, and went down smooth. The spice from the mix of the siracha and the old bay kicks in but doesn't overwhelm the food Now that I think about it, I should have ordered one to go The brunch consisted of French Toast and Fried Chicken Southern Chicken Benedict (Fried Chicken, Poached Egg, Sausage Gravy, Roasted Potatoes, On Biscuit) Farmer's Omelet (Bacon, Sausage, Peppers, Cheese, Roasted Potatoes) All three plates came out hot, and fresh, and the portions are more than sufficient. You will need to make room for later on, when you finish your leftovers Glad I was able to get to them before they went on hiatus again, can't wait for them to open up in the summer again so I can try their Fall Off The Bone Ribs

Came here for my birthday a while back. My friends suggested this place for the chicken and waffles. Unfortunately, the waffle machine wasn't working. Unlike other places, they know what people came for and made chicken and French Toast. I mean this has to be added to a brunch menu. It was amazing.I now have a reason to return many times for the chicken and waffles.Note: Make a reservation. Though it seems like a speakeasy, people know about this place.
