Closer to a 4.5/5, but Google doesn’t do half stars.
Ordered Mongolian Beef, Egg Roll, and Salmon avocado roll for pickup.
Food was ready in under 15 minutes, staff were very friendly over the phone when I called to add the sushi roll to my order. Everything tasted fresh, maybe a touch on the salty side but not overpowering.
Mongolian beef was delicious, very plentifully portioned, well seasoned and well cooked.
Egg roll was a bit plain, the weakest of the order but still tasty.
Sushi roll was very solid for the price range. Definitely better than something you’d get at a grocery store or a typical Chinese restaurant.
Would recommend to anyone looking for a local Chinese place. It’s not the greatest Chinese food you’ll ever have in your life, but it’s very good for what it is, and from my experience the staff are very friendly.

I have sushi all the time and truthfully actually the worst I’ve ever had. Took 2 bites and immediately felt sick would not recommend. Also was pretty pricy for how bad the food is lol
I also got General Tso’s and lo mein both some of the worst I’ve had there’s no flavor or sauce at all.
Hate to be harsh but I am pretty upset I paid $50 dollars for something that would have been better in a mall food court.

May Island has been a local favorite for many years. The sushi lunch specials are delicious--fresh, well-prepared by an experienced sushi chef, and reasonably priced. The Chinese menu items are also noticeably fresher and more flavorful than another nearby carry-out. My husband loves egg drop soup and really enjoys May Island's version. The restaurant has a very low-key exterior, situated next to a convenience store. But inside it's nicely appointed so it's a cozy spot for lunch or an intimate dinner (they cannot accommodate large groups in-house). The service is always cheerful, friendly, efficient, and prompt. They won't leave you waiting for your food. Whenever someone requests a local sushi or Chinese food recommendation, I'm always happy to mention May Island.

the raw sushi is so bad 😭😭
overall, all the rolls are HUGE and have way too much rice. the raw tuna grossed me out and was extremely fishy in a bad way.
$30 down the drain
I have eaten in the restaurant once and the food was delicious, the service also was great, it’s a sweet family owned place. It’s small and nothing fancy inside so kind of a hole in the wall, which is a plus in my mind - not trying too hard just good food. I was recently in charge of food for a dinner our church was having, and decided to have May Island cater since it is close by. I was a little nervous that food for 200 might be difficult for this small business and the quality might suffer. I did not need to worry though because they did an absolutely phenomenal job! The food was delicious, beautifully prepared, and plentiful. Everyone was raving about it, asking me where I had ordered it from, and coming back for seconds! There was something for everyone, even the picky kids loved it. It was also an easy menu to work around some various food sensitivities and allergies. The staff were accommodating and wonderful to work with. We will definitely use them again for future events not to mention Sunday lunch after church!
Wow! The best sushi I've had in my 5 years in NoVa! The sushi is flavor packed and has great texture. This place should be jam-packed with people, but somehow isn't. This makes the service super fast and personalized. They add extra touches and do a great job checking in on us. Need to come back soon!
You would never guess by the outside that this was such a gem
The service was wonderful and the food was amazing. Everything we ordered from the green tea to the entrees were delicious!!!
They serve delicious meals with generous portions.
The girl in the counter is very rude and unprofessional

Love the sushi here. Staff is very nice and they're good at balancing takeout orders with dine in customers.
Stole my money on an order they hadn't even made.
Came all the way from New York Queens, and visit here again. The food the people I already missed them!
Delicious Food 🍲 and Friendly Service!
This restaurant has become a fairly consistent winner. No frills but very traditional yet exceptionally flavorful Asian Cuisine!
