This place is cute and clean. The cats were mostly sleeping or pretending to sleep. A few of them were super playful. Parking was easy to find. Try to make a reservation before going.

Absolutely lovely place to grab lunch, coffee or a snack. Get cat therapy upstairs. Cats are available for adoption. They have adult only hours special wine tasting, yoga, and other fun events. ADA into the lower half of thr building. But not to the cats upstairs. Great knowable staff. I would love to go again in the future.

Writing this while laying in bed next to my former Mt Purrnon kitties! The vibes of the place were very cozy and felt like a spot you could truly relax in. The cats were super friendly and the staff were so so helpful! My partner and I asked a lot of questions trying to find our perfect match and we’re so glad we did because this lead to them introducing us to the cutest bonded pair of torties and it was love at first sight. They were very open with the cat’s medical history, their personalities as they had observed them, and what they knew of their history. The adoption process went seamlessly, they were communicative and friendly and even encourage giving updates on how our kittens grow. They provided both physical and digital copies of the health records and you can really tell during pick up how deeply the owners care about each cat, taking their time to say goodbye. Our girls Eevee (Lacy) in pink and Serenity (Macey) in black have been such an amazing addition to our lives and we are so grateful for the wonderful owners who answered our dozens of questions and helped us find the perfect fit. On a side note they had wonderful mugs as well I was able to buy to commemorate our adoption.

Nice place to come with your kids if they’re fan of cats, every detail is amazing

As animal lovers we love this concept. We paid for 6 people to spend 30 minutes hanging out with the cats. I donate to several animal rescues every month so if they just asked for a donation I probably would have given $15 but it was much more fun to donate to spend time with the animals. In addition we were able to have a very nice bistro type lunch. The salads were large enough and the sandwiches were freshly made and felt upscale. The staff were all very nice.
We absolutely will come by next time we are in the area.

Great place to visit and relax with the numerous sweet cats. They also serve food and drink. What else is there to say.

This cat cafe is the cutest. Every time I go to Alexandria I stop in and visit with the kitties. The owners and staff are welcoming and know so much about the cat residents. It is a genuinely caring environment designed to give cats an opportunity to find their new homes, and also take time away from the people if they need to. If you love cats and wine (or beer and food), you need to stop here. You will not be disappointed. My husband and I are frequent visitors, and hopefully you will be, too!

Mount Purrnon Cat Cafe is truly the purr-fect cat cafe experience! Located in the heart of historic Old Town Alexandria, this is hands down my favorite cat cafe in the DMV. It’s also one of the cleanest cat cafes I’ve ever visited — which speaks volumes considering there are typically 20–30 adorable, adoptable cats lounging around!

From the moment we walked in, the staff (shoutout to Adam, AJ, and Kristen!) made us feel right at home. They were incredibly warm, friendly, and knowledgeable about each cat’s personality and background.

We adopted our sweet Callie from here, and the process couldn’t have been more simple or straightforward.

Admission fees support the housing and care of these rescue cats until they find their forever homes. Reservations are encouraged, though walk-ins are welcome if space allows. Prices are reasonable — $22 on weekdays and $25 on weekends for adults, and $18 for children aged 5–12. Kids must be accompanied by an adult (2 kids per adult max), and there’s an 18+ policy after 6 PM Thursday through Saturday.

The cafe side is just as lovely, offering sandwiches, salads, cookies, cookie dough, coffee, tea, and even wine, beer, cider, seltzer, and mead. Drinks can be brought into the cat lounge, though food must stay in the cafe area.

Don’t skip the gift shop — it’s a treasure trove of goodies for cat lovers, from laser toys and silvervine mats to t-shirts, mugs, and even fish-flavored cat wine!

Make sure to sign the waiver on your first visit and double-check their website for fun events like Cat Yoga, Tarot & Cats, Wine Tasting Wednesdays, and more.

Mount Purrnon is the cat cafe every feline fan dreams of — clean, cozy, caring, and community-driven.

Purrfection in Old Town!

Had such a fun visit to Mount Purrnon Cat Café + Wine Bar in Alexandria, VA yesterday!

Downstairs is where you’ll find drinks and a light food fare (yes, fare is the right word here!) — all dining happens there. But the best part? You can take your beverage upstairs and spend time lounging, petting, and playing with the adorable cats.

The space is clean, cozy, and welcoming. The staff is friendly, helpful, and clearly cares about the cats and guests alike.
If you fall in love with a furry friend (and you just might), you can sponsor a cat — or even adopt! So many sweet lap-warmers are waiting for homes.

Highly recommend for cat lovers, or anyone looking for a unique and relaxing experience.
