Absolutely delightful experience. Great service, ambiance, and most of all cuisine. There is not a bad seat in the restaurant, however, the volume of take-out orders speaks for itself! Namaste :)

Wonderful food and location! The vegetarian options are delicious and numerous. I asked for mild plus level of spice and it was perfect heat level. Highly recommend trying the Indian beer and wine options. Great value too! Linda was our server and she was outstandingly attentive. One of my Old Town favorites!

They don’t know what to do with customers. Not punctuated.

The dish I ordered from Namaste JALSA was deeply disappointing. There was practically no goat meat to be found—only about five pieces, and even those were meagerly sized. The dish was overwhelmingly drenched in sauce, to the point where it felt more like a soup than anything resembling the hearty curry I had anticipated. Adding to the frustration, the portion of rice provided with the meal was utterly insufficient, leaving me wondering how anyone could feel satisfied with such a meal.
At the prices they charge, spending money here feels like throwing it away. You're better off giving that money to the DMV, where at least you’d know it’s serving some purpose. Sadly, this experience left me regretting every cent spent, as there was no sense of value or satisfaction gained.
Businesses thrive on delivering quality and value to their patrons, and from this experience, Namaste JALSA falls significantly short in both regards. While I don’t wish misfortune upon anyone, I struggle to see how this establishment can sustain itself with such poor culinary offerings. I wouldn’t recommend anyone to return here; in fact, I would advise avoiding this restaurant entirely. There are countless superior options elsewhere—flee to them posthaste.

I ordered chicken65 and saagwala paneer, didnt like both, chicken had too much mustard seeds and saagwala panner didn’t taste good and was bland. I feel like food was expensive for that taste and ambience. So disappointed!!!

Review for Namaste Jalsa Bar – Old Town Alexandria

From the moment we walked into Namaste Jalsa Bar, we were wrapped in a warm and inviting atmosphere where the beauty of Eastern culture radiates through every detail, from the décor to the music to the aroma of expertly blended spices.

The highlight of our experience was undoubtedly the gracious hospitality of the owner, Jay. He took the time to learn what we liked and thoughtfully shared his personal favorites, creating a truly tailored and memorable dining experience. His kindness and warmth made us feel not like guests, but like family.

The food? Beyond delicious. Each dish was prepared with love and precision, the spices offering not just flavor but a kind of culinary serenity that left us both euphoric and at peace. Every bite spoke of tradition, care, and excellence.

Our waitress was equally exceptional, attentive, courteous, and respectful, making sure our every need was met with a genuine smile.

We’re visiting from out of town, but this won’t be our last stop here. Namaste Jalsa Bar has earned a special place in our hearts, and we’ll be counting down the days until we return.

With love from Cleveland,

What a charming restaurant in old town! The staff was fabulous, prices reasonable (surprisingly for Old Town these days), it had great atmosphere, and the food was delicious. I will definitely be going back!

The service here was really good and the food was the highlight. We had been here for dinner, they seated us and gave us time to decide on our order and gave their recommendation too.. It was a chilly evening, so had ordered Manchow soup which was well prepared. For main course we ordered Paneer Lababdar, Kadhai Paneer and Garlic Naan all very tasty.

Excellent food and the service was friendly. Our waitress in particular made it an enjoyable experience. So good we almost went back the next night. Peaceful atmosphere, great location just outside of the chaotic part of king street.

This restaurant was amazing! I was traveling this week and found it a close walk from my hotel. The butter chicken and garlic naan were some of the best I’ve ever had. The atmosphere was calming and the restaurant was quiet and inviting. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Kid-friendliness: There were definitely a few families with kids dining and everyone seemed happy.

I absolutely adore this restaurant. The food is top tier (would definitely recommend any and all their curries, chats, naans, basically anything on their menu), the service is phenomenal, and the atmosphere feels warm and fuzzy.

I've been coming here for years since I first moved to Alexandria and have not found a better Indian restaurant in the area.

Bring your co-workers. Bring your friends. Bring your family, extended and all. Even if you don't know them all that well, everyone will enjoy the experience and meal at THE Namaste Jalsa.

I really enjoy Indian food and have dined at a fair number of Indian restaurants over the years. Namaste JALSA was only the second one that impressed me. My lamb dish was delicious, and the lamb was tender, very lean, and high quality. Medium spicy was too spicy for me. But that was my choice. I had a mango lassi, and that was the best I ever had. It was very thick and creamy and not too sweet. Their menu has a large variety of offerings that represent many Indian regions. The dining room was very neat and clean, as shown in my photos. They definitely deserve their high rating.
