Wonderful time at Evening Star! Haven't been in years and so happy to be back. Lively yet also cozy atmosphere. Food was delicious: Outstanding steak frites. Great drinks. Malted chocolate mousse was amazing.

I ordered the avocado toast sandwich with a side order of grits. It was very good. My husband ordered the shrimp and grits. When it was brought out, our eyes almost popped out of our heads. It was such a small amount in the bowl. I gave him my grits so that he could have enough to eat, the grits and shrimp were good but the amount that they served was far less than what he had gotten at other places.

There are some wonderful additions to the menu (e.g. the beef fat soaked almonds, NY Strip, Pork, Bavette). However I had some old favorites (like the Octopus appetizer) which have disappeared, and too many new “breaded” southern type of selections

Evening Star has been a dependably top-notch dining experience since it opened. The food is excellent. I had the pork chop, which was great; my wife had the duck pot pie, which was unique and great. Our server was great, as the service has been every time we've visited. Highly recommended.

I do love Evening Star, but lastnight was disappointing, especially for the price of my meal. I ordered the 3 course Valentine's menu for $75. I chose the lobster ravioli appetizer, scallops for the main, and chocolate mousse for dessert. Overall, it was underwhelming. The single ravioli was served atop of sliced potatoes in a cream sauce. Tasty, but small portion. The 3 good sized scallops while cooked perfectly, were served atop of the same potatoes. I wish there has been a vegetable or some other accompaniment than potatoes again! The chocolate mousse dessert was honestly my favorite part. My husband ordered off the regular menu and I thought his food was much better. I'll definitely return but will stick to the regular menu offerings instead of a holiday special. We also had drinks in the lounge/bar area and they were good!

Wilmer is a great server. He gave very honest and straightforward advice about the menu and did not steer us wrong. He should be in charge of the dessert menu because he has impeccable taste in desserts, especially! We love the atmosphere at Evening Star and generally like the food. We tried a few new things for restaurant week and didn't love them all, but at least we tried! We'll definitely be back!

Evening Star always provides a consistently great experience and this time was no exception. The added value of the extensive Restaurant Week menu made the experience that much better.

Came for the Restaurant Week special. Very noisy dining room, menu was intriguing, service was kirt. Salad was good, friend liked the wings, my pasta had watery sauce, and his burger had excellent fries. Getting drunk refills wasn't responded to promptly. Server all but disappeared once we were done. Overall, meh.

Evening Star never disappoints, and their restaurant week menu was *actually* a deal (unlike some restaurants). Food was great, service was top notch, and it was the perfect warm and cozy ambiance to unwind after a long, snowy week.

Delicious dinner during restaurant week. Lots of choices for appetizers and main courses. Ravioli was tender, tasty and loaded with flavor. Who knew Alabama white sauce was the trick for a lettuce wedge, but it worked. Salmon and crab pasta cooked and seasoned well. Lots of capers with the crab, if that is not your thing. Couldn't finish flourless chocolate torta, it was so rich and special. Key lime tartlets make a light finish to the meal. Purple rain cocktail was fun and flavorful! Suggestion: a heavy velvet drape between front door and check-in to minimize drafts wafting into the seating area, or direct diners to use side door. It really is cold outside!

Food was very good! Service a bit slow. Our one big complaint was insufficient lighting at the table - we had to use the light on our phone to be able to read the menu. The tables in the center of dining room seemed to have enough light but we were in a booth - very dark. Hope management can address this.

A very cozy spot. Service was excellent as was the food. Very original menu. Tonarelli pasta and duck entre were very tasty. Small but well chosen wine list. We will come back often.

While there are several vegetarian dishes offered on the small plates menu, not a single vegetarian entree shows a bit of lack of creativity. In 2023, I would expect at least one vegan and one vegetarian entree available. The small plates were well thought out and delicious. The carrot cake and flourless chocolate cake were about the level I would expect at a coffee chain. Evening Star must have lost the pastry chef they had years ago. The wine list and ambiance still keep us coming back.

Overall it was nice. Service was ok, he wasn't rude but we told him some of us were eating apps for dinner and yet he still brought out the small plates 10 min before the rest of the meals. He wasn't overly friendly seemed a little overwhelmed. Food was decent was surprised the steak didn't include any sides. Atmosphere was great.
