I could not find one thing about this place that could be improved upon, friendliest and most knowledgeable staff, stunning cocktails, delicious bites, beautiful decor, incredible layout for a fun speakeasy, I could go on and on. Thank you to Mike, Drew, and Sergey for making my birthday weekend extra special. I cannot wait to be back.

I'm not even sure what to call this experience other than extremely confusing and disappointing. My boyfriend and I had reservations for Captain Gregory's next-door for Valentines Day and we were an hour early and were told that we could find a seat at the bar at railbird and grab a drink until our reservation was available. We went over to railbird in the same venue and the bartender gave us a litany of conflicting signals about whether he was willing to serve us or not. He asked us if we had a reservation which we told him we were told we could be a walk-in by Capt Gregorys (which it also says is an option on the website no reservations needed)- there were only two people at the bar. At that point he sold us that he has people coming later (mind you they were closing in an hour) and we said, "OK that's fine. We're happy to get up when they're here." He told us he didn't have enough liquor for the drinks and we asked which drinks he could serve us and then he couldn't give us an answer and said it depends. We kept trying to get clarification on what he had and he evaded a response. He then walked off and proceeded to help another table. We sat for about five minutes, ready to order a drink and he then proceeded to ignore us. Immediately he started serving another couple who had just sat down and got their order fairly quickly. It would've been nice to have a straightforward answer to understand really what was going on here. We felt uncomfortable and decided to get a drink at Mason Social for 30 minutes. When we returned for our reservation at Captain Gregory's, there was still the same couple at the bar and no major reservations occupying the space. I really wanted to give this place a try, but I don't think my business was welcome. Was it homophobia? Did he really have a shortage of liquor despite being attached to a cocktail bar next-door? Thankfully, Captain Gregory was a very welcoming space and quite a delightful experience which I'll review on their page.

Discovered this restaurant for Alexandria's restaurant week and really glad I found it! It's a smaller space but very intimate, dimly lit, and well decorated! We were immediately greeted when we walked in and our server/bartender was extremely welcoming and friendly! We chatted for a bit and really loved the quality of service he provided. It was personable and professional. We tried the wagyu burger (perfectly seasoned and cooked, juicy!) and the hot chicken sandwich (crispy chicken, delectable sauce, overall 10/10 and a MUST). The appetizers we got Brussel sprouts (very bitter, a little soggy, overall a bit disappointing) and the ribbon fries (they were basically chips, but not seasoned or salted) topped with a mayo-based sauce that was pretty good but also pretty disappointing. We didn't have room for desserts but the main dishes and drinks were good! There is a speakeasy counterpart that is right next door with incredible cocktails. Excited to try it out soon.

So originally we signed up for an Experimental Zero Proof Cocktail night with Captain Gregory's but it ended up being a Railbird event (or both places?). Makes sense, a little more room out there anyway. We haven't been on this side of the place since it was a Sugar Shack so it was nice to see the new concept. The seats are mostly at the bar was maybe 3-4 tables around the rest of the restaurant. We got a small taster when we sat down which was really good but I do not remember what it was. The zero proof menu we were there consisted of a Blueberry, Fauxgroni, and a Honey cocktail. We got the Blueberry and Fauxgroni to start. Both were made in front of us and had very cool looking details, especially the Fauxgroni's ice cube. The Blueberry was delicious and the honey foam on top was great with it. We figured since we were there we should also grab dinner which was fully available too. Not a huge menu but had snacks and sandos with a Japanese influence. We started with the Oysters Trio and Tater Tots. The oysters came in these ceramic oysters which was pretty cool and they had an amazing flavor to them. Little sweet, little sour. The tater tots were also great because they're tater tots but the sauce really changed the flavors for us. We also got two sandos, the Hot Maple and the Miso Honey. The sandwich's were a good size. So much flavor packed in each bite. The Hot Maple had a ton of bacon jam and combined with the red onion it was a salty, sweet, sour, crunchy rich sandwich. The runny egg on top was a nice touch. The Miso Honey had a strong truffle flavor but the honey sweetness came through nicely. Also very crunchy. Lastly we got two more drinks off their regular menu, the Coffee Bean and the Hibiscus. The flavors in the Coffee Bean worked so well together. I would say it was one of the best cocktails I've had in a long time. The Hibiscus was pretty solid too but I only had a few sips. To end, as a part of our experience, we got these complimentary yuzu lime donuts. I guess as a call back to Sugar Shack maybe? They weren't bad, a little crispy but the flavor wasn't strong. Definitely a cool experience. I might not pay $20 for the zero proof experience itself but I would come back for their food and cocktails because I would say it was all on point.

RailBird opened not too long ago and it’s become one of my go to spots to bring out of towners for happy hour. The menu rotates seasonally but, it’s tapas style and they usually have reworked/more upscale versions of bar bites. They have some sandwiches which are good but, the cocktails are the real draw.

Great experience on an early Thursday afternoon. Fantastic drinks and tapas. Service is also great . Would come back when back in town

We've been here a few times; the cocktails are always delicious! Really like that the menu rotates seasonally (although I hope the tater tots stick around because they're amazing). They've got some great happy hour deals, too. The staff are friendly and the space is comfortable. We'll be back!

This place is so solid! You literally can't go wrong with any of the inventive cocktails--I don't even need to list the drinks I had (ok I will, the Pine and the Sesame) because the others I didn't have were probably equally as good. For food, I got the tots and the Banh Mi chicken sandwich--super satisfying, with an Asian twist with the sauce on both. I would definitely come back here again and try the other apps and sandwiches!

Great interesting cocktails and a variety of Japanese-inspired snacks. Friendly staff who took good care of us even though we just popped by for one drink.

Loved the fried chicken Sandos and shrimp tempura. Unique drinks with unique food. Definitely worth a trip. Would recommend. Pricing is a little high but food is yummy. Ambience could be better. Place is tiny with limited seating. $100 for two people.

Love the food and drinks, but the fluorescent lighting has to go. Please consider switching to bulbs that give off a "warmer" glow.
