I'm so emotional rn. I visited this location for the second time. My knees have been extremely painful lately and I'm having to be assisted with a cane and as I approached the door of the restaurant, one of the employees who was doing paperwork at a table, stopped her work to come open the door for me and the same for when i left. I appreciate that tiny act of kindness so very much as you simply don't see it much anymore. Thanks Rice & Spice!!!!

This is just an update I hope you look at these Natalie. It’s Robin (Michaela and Nicks mom and Rob’s ex wife). I have never once had a bad dinner ever, in fact I think the food is better than ever. I only get carry out these days but I wanted to say how great everything is STILL after ALL these years. Your staff is so wonderful to me. I can’t remember the managers name but she is so good to me and it makes me feel so special. I can’t say enough great things about Rice and Spice. Please don’t ever close. LolI have been going to this restaurant since the first week they opened I would say about 18 or so years ago. The owner is a wonderful lady and I love love their food. The manager is also so sweet and always so nice to me. She knows what I usually order and always takes such great care of me. All the food there is fantastic and I love their tai coffee and tea. You can not go wrong eating here, my favorites are the Panang ( beef and chicken ), the Larb salad and I really like the Kapow on rice. 5 stars for Rice and Spice and I would rate them a 10 if I could! I was lucky to discover this warm, welcoming great little restaurant over 20 years ago when they first opened and I've never stopped going back. The food is incredible! The Spring Rolls are so crispy they almost float off the plate, and the filling is so delicious and crunchy. The Basil Duck is juicy, marinated to perfection and cooked perfectly every time. Seriously, try it! The Lomein is spiced like nothing you've had elsewhere, always cooked to perfection and the sauce will haunt your dreams in the best way and have you wanting more! For dessert, the mango and sticky rice and the taro pudding with coconut ice cream are just scrumptious! I could go thru the rest of the menu but you get the idea. I think I've eaten just about everything on the menu and it's all exquisite. The portions are huge, I usually get at least another meal from them. The wait staff is incredibly friendly and will gladly modify ingredients for you. They'll also remember you. I live in PA now and when friends from VA come to visit, they get take out for me and then I let them stay for a few days! I highly recommend you give Rice and Spice a try next time you're in the neighborhood. Maybe I'll see you there! You won't be disappointed!

The food was HOrrible the Thai noodles were over cooked and I only received one tiny piece of chicken in my Chicken Lo Mein order. If you haven't eaten there before, check your order before you leave the restaurant because you will be absolutely disappointed when you get home.

This is my go-to Thai place. The food is great, and the staff is too. My favorite dish I have had so far is the Karee curry with beef. I actually like it so much that I now get it almost every time I order from this restaurant, which makes it hard to try new things! Their Tom Kha and Tom Yum soups are both tasty, too. If you have room for dessert, I recommend the mango with sticky rice. The restaurant itself isn't very big, but the ambiance is nice and cozy.

As a thai food lover, i have been and am still trying to visit as many thai cuisines as possible. I love to compare the flavor of each place by ordering 2 things first. A tom yum soup and a drunken noodle. If these 2 options are tasty and flavory, then the rest of the menu passes my taste. This was my first stop to Rice & Spice and immediately i was happy with their service, the friendliness and how attentive the waitresses are. They checked upon me if i needed something or how the food was. Then the food came, the tom yum soup was 7/10 and the drunken noodle was 6/10. Overall 6/10 for the whole menu. If you are a first time Thai food eater, this restaurant is good to start with. However, if you are like me a prestigious thai eater, then i recommend other thai cuisines like the one in Springfield, VA called 9PadThai. As an expert in Thai food, I will come back again to see if they improved in the texture, flavor, and the aroma of their cuisine.

DO NOT ORDER ONLINE OR YOU WILL BE SCAMMED OUT OF YOUR MONEY!!!! My mother placed a large online order with a confirmation number. Unbeknownst to me, my mother already paid for the bill. When I arrived at the restaurant, I was informed that the order needed to be paid. Although my mother ordered and sent a confirmation number via text, I had no knowledge that she paid until I got home later that evening. Once we figured out both of us were incorrectly charged… we made numerous phone calls trying to explain the issue and we’re met with no pickup each time we dialed. We were told they were busy and would call us back in ten minutes. We received one abrupt call from Rice & Spice abruptly telling us “They have no history of our order” then immediately HUNG UP. Unfortunately, we never received any calls the rest of the night, a refund, or an apology or some resolution through them to solve the issue. This is not how you conduct business and my family has ate at this restaurant for over four years and was always a local favorite in Alexandria. However, due to the insincerity and unbelievable unprofessional behavior displayed— we will no longer be eating at an overpriced restaurant that steals people’s hard working money. We had to dispute the charge through our bank. DO NOT ORDER ONLINE THROUGH RICE & SPICE OR YOU WILL GET SCAMMED OUT OF YOUR MONEY!
