Used to love this place. Been going for 20 years. They’re now going on what seems 2 years without AC. Not sure how a hibachi place doesn’t have AC in the scorching summer. The servers are sweating delivering you items. Honestly feel bad for them. This place unfortunately has lost its touch and I will never be returning.

Party of 10 for niece birthday was horrible. 1. There is NO A/C in the building. It was so hot we felt as if we were going to pass out. They only had fans blowing towards tables that were being used. 2. The hostess messed up the order. They didn't have enough food for everyone, so we received smaller portions. She seemed preoccupied on her phone or nowhere in site. We had to get her several times for help or the cook would leave to go get her. 3. The cook burned my niece with the hot oil while doing the fire trick. She cried, backed away from the table and wouldn't come back until he left. Poor birthday girl right? I felt bad because she picked this place to celebrate her birthday, only to be burned and traumatized. He apologized, but the damage was done. She sustained a small burn on her arm. AGAIN, the hostess was nowhere to be found when I tried to get a bag of ice to put on the burn. None of our cups had ice to use because it was so hot it melted immediately. When she finally resurfaced, she seemed irritated when I explained what happened and told her I needed a small bag of ice. I was just here for my birthday the month before, and everything was fine as far as service and portions. It was still hot, so I think the A/C was out at that time as well, but it wasn't as bad as yesterday. But we had a huge fan blowing directly on us so that's probably why it wasn't so bad. But they need to fix that asap. Even though we made the best of the situation, we won't be returning...

Got some food from here to go and was definitely disappointed with the amount of rice we didn’t get. When you eat in at a hibachi place, you normally get a ton of rice but getting it to go is different. The food was good but for the price you pay for the hibachi dinners, I’d prefer to get the same amount of food to go as I would by dining in.

For many years this location was a fan favorite of our friend group for many celebrations over the years. Last night we got the whole gang back together and were so incredibly disappointed with the experience. No AC, in the middle of August. It’s hard to want to eat in a sweltering hot restaurant, Hibachi over flames no less. Credit card machine was “down” so they only took cash, and could not make change. Gratuity was auto included… plus what they were taking with the extra cash they couldn’t give change for. They were out of Sake entirely and most of their Sapporo beers were warm and not refrigerated. It was really disappointing, expensive and lackluster… unfortunately that will be our last time dining at Samurai.

First of all they automatically charge gratuity: no matter how many is in your party
Secondly, they Charge you to get the rice on the grill,$3 or you get white rice. I have been to numerous Hibachi restaurants in various states and this is a first.
Third and finally, the food was mediocre at best. First and last time.

I was able to place an online order at this restaurant earlier today and I was charged for the order. On Google, the restaurant was listed as open. When I drove to the restaurant to pick my order up, it was closed with a sign on the door, see photos. There were other customers at the door equally as confused. Hope I get a refund.
I ordered pick up today and the AC wasn't working it was so hot. I also dined in a month ago and the AC also wasn't working then also. My family and I have dined here for several summers and have noticed a trend that the AC never seems to be working. Please fix/turn on your AC unit. It's too hot outside to not have working AC for your paying customers, especially when you have add a mandatory 18% gratuity to your checks.

Visited for the first time and was positively impressed by the flavors. The teppanyaki hibachi show is good (similar to any other place) friendly and with the classic tricks. Very entertaining.
The food itself was good and would probably come back eventually. Not mind blowing but still very good.
Didn't get to try the sushi ? this time though.

Went with my son for my birthday and was very disappointed.
AC not working, bathroom urinal out of order, and the chef was boring. The fried rice had onions after we specified no onions and veggies.
The chef did not attempt to do any entertainment whatsoever. There was 4 of us at the table and no fire volcano or tossing shrimp or eggs or anything. You go to a place like this for the experience and in this case, it was extremely lacking.
We were then charged a mandatory 18% gratuity which I would have done less.
Not sure if I can recommend this place to anyone. Very sad that it was not a better time for me and my son.

How does a sushi restaurant not have sushi? Completely unacceptable. And instead of reaching out to me after I placed my order, they let my driver waste his time and gas. Upon arrival my driver told me there was no sushi. Waste of my time. When I called the restaurant the young lady on the phone couldn’t care less and told me to call Uber for my refund. Do not recommend.

I read a post two weeks where the AC did not work. I figure they fixed it (since it was two weeks later) and went there. I was so wrong!!! They should’ve had a note at door stating “NO AC !!”. We sat down and was going to turn on the fan where we the waitress said don’t touch. We could not take with it being 99 degrees out and felt so uncomfortable inside. We left before server took our order. Never again

Everything was delicious but it was so hot in the restaurant. Idk what was going on with the AC but it was just too hot to eat, I picked at mine. BUT I crushed it as soon as I got back to my room. #delish

It's my first time in Washington, they recommended this place to me and I loved it, my friends and I recommend it 100%, they will love the food ?, the 5-star service. If you come to visit or live in DC, visit them.
