This place is a really great local takeout. Pretty much the go to option for Chinese food in Del Ray. The portions are huge and there are no frills but the food is delicious. Mongolian beef is my favorite!

Delicious! Ordered take-out from here recently and was really happy with both the wide selection of food and how delicious it was!We ordered the following:-Hot and sour soup -Eggrolls-Garlic Beef (made this one spicy, just to my liking). This came with rice.-Moo Shi Beef with 4 pancakes-Pancakes (this was literally just tortilla bread, so we were a little bit confused about that, but the sauce it came with was tasty)The food is great, service was good, and our take-out order was ready pretty quickly. Would definitely visit again!

Really great Hong Kong style dishes, generic Chinese dishes, and Malaysian dishes. I lived in Hong Kong for 2 years, and loved the food. The most authentic Hong Kong food I've found in DC is Tiger Fork (see my review for them), but it is also far from my home and you are paying for the quality. It is expensive, but worth every penny.South China is my go-to I-don't-want-to-cook-dinner spot. They perfectly captured a few of my favorite Hong Kong dishes, and it is reasonably priced. A few of my favorites are: Eggplant w/ Garlic Sauce (#41) (add pork - the way I had it in Hong Kong. My favorite dish.); Chicken Chow Foon (#C2) (wide, thick fried noodles); Diet Sautéed Vegetables (#D1) (really nice fresh option, just steamed vegetables, I usually get it without the brown sauce); Malaysian Beef Rendang (#M19) (delicious brown, savory curry-like dish); and any of the usual Chinese dishes are done well also, e.g. General Tso's Chicken (#S3), Beef with Broccoli (#51), etc.

Ive been eating here for years ever since they were Mandarin Inn back on Mt. Vernon. Clean establishment. I always order Combo Fried Rice, Triple Delight, Combo Lo Mein, General Tso Shrimp or Orange Chicken. I should try something new but I love these classics. Everything is flavorful and executed greatly. My family loves Jason.

Our favorite Chinese takeout. Love the Malaysian and Thai options. Yum yum chicken is my favorite. Always fast and fresh. And they have no issues with substituting some veggies in the orders ( I hate onions).

So happy to have discovered our neighborhood South China restaurant during the pandemic -- we are now regulars! We had just about given up our quest to find decent Chinese takeout in Alexandria -- and now we have a dependably good place. Very fresh, non greasy, good selection, quick and inexpensive. Fan of vegetable dumplings, chicken with snow peas (lots of them!), beef with basil.

Tried it for the first time. Delivery was a little late, but it was lunchtime, so not too bad. Portions were huge (oversized, really). Quality wasn't great - I had bland kung pao swimming in flavorless brown sauce. Even after I added red pepper flakes and sriracha it was still bland - maybe that sauce was killing flavor. Wife had shrimp and veggies. There were 2 shrimp in the dish. Steamed chicken dumplings were chewy and equally bland. I wish it had been better. My suggestion - smaller portions and a little more focused preparation would get that star count up.

We enjoy this Chinese restaurant a lot! The portions are large and the flavor is full. My husband and I can split an order of chicken fried rice and chicken dumplings and both be full. The people who work here are friendly and chatty. We are really happy to have such a tasty and generous Chinese place within walking distance of our home!

This place is my favorite Chinese takeout in the dmv. Their Kung pao tofu and crab rangoons are to die for. Everyone who works here is super friendly and they always have our order ready on time!

I would have loved to give them 5 stars but the service I got on the phone my second time ordering was AWFUL! I have gotten food delivered from them before to my apartment which is 1.9 miles away from them. The lady on the phone said I’m 3 miles away from their restaurant and this is untrue. I didn’t feel like arguing because only God knows what they would have done to my food. Not only that but last time our order was $20 and I tipped $10. 50%!!!! What audacity these people have. NEVER GOING TO THEM AGAIN.

They packed a noodle dish so carelessly that the sauce dripped out and now my car smells like soy sauce 24/7. Adding injury -- the noodle dish wasn't very good.

Delicious Chinese food in Delray. They were closed for COVID but are back and going takeout. You can order online. Love their egg rolls and pepper fillet. So good.
