St. Elmo's Coffee Pub - Old Town North

I have routinely been disappointed by this coffee shop. It’s a shame because it’s the closest one to me, so I have been a few times, but every time I have gone the customer service is terrible, coffee is poor, and the food is subpar. The cashier never greets you or says thank you. You sit around for a while waiting for your food - I’m pretty sure they forgot about it once until I reminded them and then they didn’t even acknowledge it or apologize. My brother just ordered the caprese sandwich and didn’t realize they didn’t add pesto until he got home so it was just tomato and cheese. My mom’s breakfast sandwich was cold and the bread was stale. Overall really disappointing coffee shop.

Great staff! The dirty chai is amazing! Have not been as impressed with some of the coffee drinks I have tried. The chocolate bourbon pop tarts are ridiculous! They never have enough unfortunately (it may be seasonal…sucks…I would eat them all year!!!)😔 I tried the breakfast burrito, mine was completely soggy as a to go order (I couldn’t eat it) so disappointing. I recently tried a sandwich (recommended) it was so bland! Have not been impressed with the food, but that pop tart (delish)

But I still go back (praying for my choc bourbon pop tart) & would still recommend!

Try the drinks and pop tarts (just save the choc bourbon or me😉)

Matcha latte was decent - they offer it unsweetened which is a huge plus. However, no mugs - only paper cups. A nice place to come do some work.

This is a cool little coffee shop. Lots of seating. Relatively quiet, although the piano might change the calculus one day. Parking is easy. I should come back more often.

Atrocious. As I write this I've been sitting here for 25 minutes waiting for a sandwich. There's like 5 people "working" here and 3 of them are sitting at the bar having a grand old time helping nobody. If you value your time, go somewhere else.

Cute coffee place! Didn’t try the food but had a sugar free hazelnut latte and it was good. They have creamer etc, out (including stevia! Yay) so you don’t have to ask. Free wifi. They also appear to have a bar and the food, while I didn’t eat, looked pretty good.

Went in today (9/8) and ordered a coffee and a bagel sandwich to-go. Coffee came out quick and was good… food took forever and had to ask someone to check on my order. My order finally came out and I was just ready to leave. I get home and my order was wrong. I got someone’s bfast burrito which wasn’t great. One bite and in trash. Probably won’t go back.

The food and coffee were alright. A couple YouTube videos on properly steaming milk for lattes and cappuccinos could greatly improve the quality here.

But I'm honestly leaving a 3 star review because of the disregard for the environment.

I dined in. Why is my coffee in two paper cups, and my avocado toast in a plastic container? You can't be this close to DC and not care about the environment.

Buy some pretty mugs and plates! It would greatly improve the atmosphere, and also help reduce all the unnecessary single use items. Stop being so wasteful, please.

Best coffee, hands down!!

The barista is amazing. Great coffee and great service. My issue was the food. I ordered an avocado toast for $10 and they gave me one slice of toast with a sliver of avocado on top. Not good. Go for the coffee, not the food

Good vibe, great coffee. My breakfast burrito was a little wet but tasted great

Cool little spot that seems to have a little bit of everything. Some nice beers in the cooler (Other Half, Veil) but it was a little early for that, so I settled for a homemade strawberry rhubarb “pop tart” which was awesome.
