Being Italian, I'm very picky about my pizza. I have to say Stracci Pizza is our absolute favorite. Whether eating there or a carry out, it is simply the best.

Absolutely a wonderful discovery. The location was quite charming with a pleasantly professional staff. The menu was unique, and the pizza was absolutely delicious!

What you’re getting from Stracci, from my perspective as a culinary professional, is an amazing focaccia style pizza with fresh ingredients that’s absolutely marvelous. The caponata appetizer is delish, as are the gigante’ beans as well as the liver pate. Love this place. It’s always exciting when my diet allows for me to indulge as a treat, I can eat for days off of a single pizza and an appetizer. My favorite is the Brooklyner.

Tonight was my first time at Stracci and while I had heard amazing things, if I ever do order from them again it will be for take-out only. Everything was fine until our food arrived and the waitstaff started hovering around our table. Every 3 minutes or so one of the 3-4 waitstaff who served us would come by, glance at our table, walk back to the other waitstaff, and talk to them while looking and gesturing at us. We felt very rushed to eat and leave (presumably so they could fill the table with other customers). The food was good, but the atmosphere completely overshadowed the whole experience.

P.S. the only way to order is through a QR code not through the omnipresent waitstaff (which they will make very clear if you try to order something from them like a regular restaurant).

When you’re seated after a wait, you’ll get a text saying “tap here to view the menu, order, and pay”. Do not click the link! Confusion will ensue! Instead, scan the QR code at the table.

Once you’ve done that, you will get the best pizza you have ever had in your life. We are privileged to live close enough to come with some regularity; if you are visiting anywhere in the DC/NoVa vicinity, you must make a pilgrimage.

The pizza is just fabulous. You can taste the care they put into the crust in how crisp it gets but a really nice crumb inside. This location isn't convenient for me, but I'm jealous of those that get to call this their neighborhood spot.

Such a cozy restaurant! Always busy it seems - and they only take reservations for parties of 5 people or larger, so plan accordingly. You are able to order with a QR code directly to your table which is very convenient. Their focaccia and pizza dough is excellent… some of the best in the area. Their fresh stracciatella cheese is so so so good and definitely worth any wait at the door. A perfect date night spot.

Parking: Street parking can be a bit limited. We parked in the neighborhood a block away which was fine!

Don’t miss Stracci! It’s not your typical restaurant in all the right ways. The food is outstanding, top-notch ingredients, and a friendly, engaging staff. The hostess puts you at ease immediately. It gets busy, but it moves quick and is 100% worth the wait. You order online; however, it’s easy, efficient, and the wait team can help. I know, deep breath, trust me, you’ll be fine.
They make their own cheese and this effort transforms Stracci's menu. We had homemade Focaccia, meatballs and three of us ordered our own pies. We ordered sides of stracciatella and sauce with our Focaccia. Absolutely delicious, perfectly baked. The meatballs were outstanding. They were not dense, had a great blend of meat, and perfect texture. The sauce and generous shavings of parmigiana reggiano was a nice touch. One side note, they use garlic masterfully, the right amount and perfectly thin slices.
While everything is tremendous, do NOT miss the pizzas. Stracci serves Roman style pizza, think brick oven, rectangle shaped, crust, but extremely light, with perfect blistering. The dough is a home run. The oldest son ordered the special, Mortadella and pistachio pesto. My other son chose the classic Stracci. I ordered the Stracci white and added sausage, onions, spinach, and garlic. All of them had the homemade stracciatella .I tried the special and it was special. Unfortunately, my son inhaled his Stracci, so I didn't get a taste. He rated it one of the best pizzas, a classic. Although they have a full bar menu, we opted for special sodas and sparkling water. We ended our night with mini chocolate cannolis and a fig and plum tart with homemade ricotta. it was beyond expectations and, believe me ours were high based on the food we had enjoyed so far. The ricotta was rich and creamy, the fruit flavorful, and the crust buttery with a nice texture. The dessert had the perfect level of sweetness. The mini chocolate cannolis were everything you want in a cannoli. BTW, they go by a much cooler name...cannolo?
Great food, great staff, great atmosphere - Stracci gets 10-stars. The ultimate compliment? On the way out, my son said, "We should celebrate my graduation here." He's a senior in college and has dined well, probably too well, for a college kid. It's the highest praise since celebration meals in our family are reserved only for our favorites.
