Dear Tatte,
I just wanted to say happy holidays and to thank you for opening a location in Crystal City (Arlington, VA). The staff and managers are exceptional. I enjoy having a local bakery/coffee shop I can walk to and loose myself in a book or anything really. It's a roomy location, well-designed and welcoming. It has become my home away from home.
I'd avoid this place if you are looking for fresh food. we decided to try this place out after doing our tourist thing. it looks really nice, but dammmmm looks are so deceiving. it just felt like everything has been carted in and just sitting on display, hoping someone buys it... we all had a few bites, before leaving the rest of the food for rubbish. not worth it at all.

Tatte Bakery & Cafe | Old Town offers quality pastries, soups, and lunch in a casual atmosphere. Customers can place their order and have it delivered to their table. The menu includes delicious options such as the butternut squash salad, short rib sandwich, and fruit tart. Specials like the pistachio pancakes for Mother's Day are highly recommended. The bakery is gorgeous and has amazing selections. There is a decent amount of seating, though it gets crowded, so visiting early is recommended. The service is great, the place is clean, and the atmosphere is welcoming and a perfect place to spend a weekend morning. Customers love the bread and croissants, and the Spiced Shrimp and Avocado Mousse Salad is a favorite go-to dish, described as delicious, fresh, and healthy. Sandwiches are also available, with options for gluten-free bread. Prices are reasonable and the food quality is high. The atmosphere is classic and cozy.
Some visitors note that the food, especially baked goods, is tasty and clearly a highlight, making it a go-to spot in Old Town. The croque madame, a French-inspired dish, is enjoyed as a nice treat, though some found their croque madame was not quite what they expected, with cheap ham and an egg in a croissant. Drinks like cafe au lait and tea are available, but the cafe au lait was described as undrinkable, tasting like very cheap instant coffee, while the tea was better but served in a large paper cup. Visitors mention that the bakery gets crowded, often with a line, but it’s worth the wait. The staff can be a bit disorganized during busy times, especially with order pickup, but overall the experience remains positive. Customers find the baked goods consistently good and the place a welcoming spot for a weekend treat.
