Such a beautiful hidden gem. A bit expensive, but completely worth it to avoid the crowds and wait of Old Town restaurants. The wine selection was expansive and the atmosphere was lovely. Will definitely return if we're ever in the area!

One of the best restaurants in such a beautiful neighborhood. If you’re visiting Old Town Alexandria and are in the mood for Italian food, The Abyss is a must. Their house pasta and sauces (tomato and mushrooms) are to die for, and the whole ambience is quiet + fancy.My only concern was the absurd reservation wait time. After calling to make my reservation, the closest available opening was almost a month later. While I understand that this restaurant is all the "rage" right now, communication regarding bookings could be better.

Very good. I've never had anything quite as exquisite The Abyss since I went to Prague. The dark but warm atmosphere is relaxing, comforting, and original. The food is even more sensational. The diversity of options are preposterous, and the quality even more so. Make sure to get the Arctic Sea Calamari. The mixture of its saltiness, sweetness, and savory tomato sauce. I'm delighted to share this to colleagues, aquaintances, and even enemies.

I came upon this establishment on one of my evening walks and was pleasantly surprised. I had a wonderfully prepared bowl of Beef Burgundy and I even got to meet the owner who was quite a fine man. Would come again!

The most exquisite restaurant you’ll ever stumble upon. Instantly served, the fried calamari perfect way to start off my experience followed with the Filet Mignon cooked to a perfect medium rare and finally the most delicious cappuccino to end the perfect night. Would 100/10 recommend going there i’ll certainly stop in sometime.

I thought this was a practical joke, but sure enough after calling to confirm our reservation we were delighted to find out that this wonderful establishment exists! It seems only quite a few know about it, so the eating in the forest was quite tranquil. 10/10
