EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! This review is super late, but I figured better late than never. I ordered delivery from Thompson's Alexandria location on April 29th and there was an issue with one of the items. I called the restaurant and Cindy answered the phone and provided amazing service. She was receptive, efficient, came up with a creative and personalized solution and did it with the utmost professionalism and kindness. I also asked her who the chef was because the food was superb. She informed me that it was Chef Lucy and she was also an integral part of this success story. Thank you to Thompson for the impressive service and memorable meal. Please keep this up, its hard to find.
Can not even express the food was amazing you can tell not only the ingredients were fresh but they care about the food and maybe the best Cesar I have had in 10 years
Highly recommend. Our server Cindy was wonderful. She was very knowledgeable with spot on suggestions. Monday night pasta special- great value! House cab was delish!
Our server Mike was great! The burrata was delicious and the crispy potatoes were incredible.
Delicious food with excellent seasoning and very helpful and friendly service here. We had focaccia, two pasta dishes and dessert. The gelato is wonderful. The special white wine was excellent as was the Mandarin Candidate cocktail.
The apps are outstanding. We reordered a second round they were so good. Also, best espresso martini I've ever had.
Thompson Italian always delivers. Food is always fresh, properly cooked, hot, and presented beautifully.
We have been there during all seasonal menus. Pasta is always cooked perfectly.
Olive oil cake is divine.
Will miss this place when we move!
Had a lovely birthday dinner here. Highlights: garlic bread, lamb meatballs, Caesar salad, roasted chicken, almond joy for dessert. Excellent service as well!

This is the second time I have tried this restaurant because I thought after reading all of the reviews I must have had just a bad first experience. Well sadly my experience was pretty much the same the second time around. We ordered the garlic bread, which wasn't garlic bread it was more like mozzarella sticks. I had the brussel sprouts which were cold and not very tasty and the corn zeppolle which were soggy. My friend had the gnocchi and she said they were touch and I had the branzino. The fish was good but the side vegetables didn't really blend together. The service basically ignored us. That's it not going to try a third time. I think a lot of the reviewers don't really know good Italian food because there isn't any place anywhere in Alexandria that I am aware of.

Amazing restaurant located on the popular King street in Alexandria. The fried eggplant and gem salad were excellent. We ordered the angel hair pasta, rigatoni, and tagliatelle as entrées. All were great and full of flavor. Service was great as well.

We went here for our wedding anniversary and had such a lovely time. Can’t recommend enough, our favorite restaurant in Old Town. The food, service, drinks were all great.
We sat at the bar the Friday before Labor Day. The bartender was amazing! I was in awe at her efficiency, never wasting a step or movement. She was happy and didn't seem overwhelmed. The drinks and food were fantastic. I still think about the tortelloni with the corn and shishito peppers

First time dining at Thomson Italian in Alexandria last night. I started with the Burrata salad and had the Bucatini as a main course. We dined at about 6 pm on a Tuesday evening -- party of four. The kitchen and bar seemed overwhelmed as the service was particularly slow. Our waiter was very pleasant, but warned us that our service would be slow. We all received our cocktails at different times and had to ask for bread service which arrived with one portion followed by another several minutes later. My main course of Bucatini seemed tired as if the sauce had been microwaved. Tremendous potential here, but it didn't seem as if anyone was in charge of the dining experience. No one to check on our table or ask about the quality of our meal. Here's hoping Thompson Italian will up its game as the fall begins.
