Really enjoyed the food, ambiance, service. Had a great view of King Street from the second floor window. Highly Recommend.
This once my first trip back to Vermilion since September 2014. My fiancé and I were able to request and get a table in the second floor dining area next to a window which overlooked the hustle and bustle on King Street below. We had the Farm Table which consisted of around ten shareable courses of food. Each course was delicious. The coleslaw and braised ribs stood out as my favorite dishes. The second floor dining area was a bit noisy because the restaurant was filled with diners. This restaurant remains my favorite in Old Town Alexandria.
Vermillion was not be so good. Pushy waiter upselling upselling upselling, terrible table (literally had a visible tilted angle to it), everything took forever, nobody EVER took empty drink glasses, food took forever (manager comped a round of drinks but never came around to apologize or check on things), my pork porterhouse was terrible, $400 before tip (for party of 4) - and only 2 in our party had alcohol, we didnt order bottle of wine. Previous customer, I definitely will not go back.
Wonderful dinner in a beautiful setting -- upstairs dining room at Vermilion is perfect. Our server, Erick, was very knowledgeable and attentive -- but not overly so -- making for a splendid special evening! Thank you.
We did the tasting menu and loved every course, and the chefs little presents were fantastic! The service was exceptional!
We visited for my husband's birthday. Sat in a window seat upstairs and Ellie K took very good care of us. I had the short ribs, hubs had the pork porterhouse - both were very good! Enjoyed a bottle of the Red Tail Ridge bubbles - a nice treat as we have visited the winery in the Finger Lakes. We haven't been to Vermillion in many years...but will put it back in the rotation for sure!
We went to this restaurant on New Year's Eve and were honestly very disappointed. The food quality was far below expectations, especially considering the prices. The steak was served cold, which is unacceptable at any restaurant, let alone one charging premium prices. Even more frustrating was being charged an unreasonable amount for what was essentially mac and cheese—listed on the menu as “pasta,” but nothing special or elevated to justify the cost. Overall, the restaurant is extremely overpriced for the quality of food served. The experience did not match the pricing or the occasion, and unfortunately, it's not somewhere we would return or recommend.
Absolutely stunning food. The owner is so personable, the wait staff is knowledgeable on the food. But the true highlight is the food. I can not stop raving how amazing the food is. My personal favorite thing on the menu is the arancini. The only thing I regret is not doing the full 8 course menu 😂
Jonathan the server was the absolute best he made our night!!! Great food too

Vermilion is one of my favorite restaurants in the DC metro. We're always happy when we eat here - excellent food, pleasant service, nice not overly noisy environment. Last night we tried the farm table menu for 2. Be aware, this is a very large meal that includes little extras from the kitchen as well as multiple appetizers, a shared entree and shared dessert.

the food was very good with large portions and the service as well - not intrusive but aware. My only complaint is the noise - like so many restaurants these days, you have to shout to be heard. The hostess said she would give us a table upstairs where it would be quieter, but then said the people at the table before us were still there, despite our reservation. We asked if we could wait until they cleared out but she said it would be a half hour so we sat downstairs and shouted. Outdoors would be quieter but it is too cold now.
Creative kitchen, fabulous appetizers, high standard of food overall, disappointing dessert “sundae”.
The food was outstanding. We had the tasting option. The service was excellent, knowledgeable, friendly, efficient!
Overall it was an excellent experience. I believe $75 is a tad bit pricey for the farmer's table experience though.
Excellent meal and service as always. One very minor comment: the maple roast autumn squash was a bit large as an appetizer and could've used a higher pear-to-squash ratio. This did not detract from the experience and Vermillion remains a favorite of ours in Old Town.
