Service was great. Plating was fancy if you care about that. The food itself was a mixed bag. The spicy fried chicken was excellent. The pork-belly bao buns were a little over cooked. I do NOT recommend the Large Plate Snapper. It was over-cooked, dry, and there was hardly any meat on that fish. $70! Honestly put me in a bad mood how bad the snapper was.

As for the atmosphere. Way too loud. It was a small crowded restaurant granted, but I don't like having to yell to talk to someone sitting across from me.

Modern setup and menu. The noodle is a little too salty for me

There are very few dishes, not rice noodles, and the waiters don’t know what they are doing.

Tastes like rice noodles mixed with instant noodle seasoning packets

Yunnan by Potomac offers a delicious journey into Southwest China with its award-winning Yunnan mixian (rice noodles) and shareable dishes like dumplings and bao buns. The mixian, whether in a rich broth or stir-fried, is packed with flavor, while the dumplings and bao buns are perfectly executed with tender fillings.

The cozy atmosphere and friendly staff make it a great spot for both casual meals and special gatherings. If you're looking for bold, authentic flavors, Yunnan by Potomac is a must-visit.

Not the place I would have picked to open up in my neighborhood… Yunnan has a great atmosphere, clean interior and friendly staff. However, the food was mediocre, especially considering the price. $30 for a “two person serving” which is very much a normal sized serving at any other noodle shop. The pork noodle bowl I ate was very neutral in flavor and the broth was… more watery than broth-y. Drinks are pricey as well ($10 for the nonalcoholic juices… like grape juice!).
The Bao Buns were the only saving grace of my experience - delicious and a hefty serving. I pry won’t be coming back… maybe I’ll try Yunnan for lunch specials, but it’s a competitive food space in Arlington and I’d rather spend my dining out dollars elsewhere.

Wood ear and mint salad has a very good flavor but pretty it’s spicy. amazingly fresh dumplings, perfectly balanced bao buns, and a braised beef noodle soup that nourishes the soul. Amazing, best lunch I’ve had in a while. 9.5/10

The food was all delicious and the service was excellent! We did take server recommendations and they did not disappoint! Not pictured but also ordered and thoroughly enjoyed were the bao buns with duck and spicy fried chicken, and the braised beef noodle. Yes we ordered a lot of food because everything we ordered was just that good! Also we had the chocolate cheesecake don’t skip out on dessert! You have to try this place!

Overpriced, gentrified Chinese food. Watch out when they give you water. We got charged 50$ for because we said we wanted “still” water instead of “tap” water.
