Authentic Yunnan cuisine. Fast service. Great options. Starters were excellent. Vegetarian options available pretty much for all the menu items. Cucumber roll starters and mushrooms were great. Mains portions are large enough to share. Another thing to note is that they provide corkage- so feel free to bring your own wine.

I have been here four times now over the last year and one thing stands out - consistency! Each time has been excellent and not a single order has left any to waste. Their cocktails are also worth a try if you like a drink with your meal, some creative mixes. The noodles are definitely the highlight and you cannot go wrong with any that you order, that said, the braised beef is terrific - very filling, great portion size, and excellent flavor. The buns are also great and any are worth a try. Definitely a place I’d recommend coming with a reservation any time around dinner or you may not be seated for some time. This is an Alexandria gem not to miss.

Phenomenal!! I am soooo mad I just found out about this place now that I no longer live in Alexandria!First off…the food…ohhhemmgeee! Sooo good. Get the pan fried chicken basil dumplings and thank me later…they are divine. I also ordered the little pot, which is a noodle bowl from heaven filled with ground pork seasoned to perfection… and GET THIS… gluten free noodles that taste like gluten filled noodles. Delicious! I left satiated but not stuffed. So much so, I came back the next day lol don’t judge meeeeee.Second, the service, everyone is so friendly and accommodating. The first time, I was alone and my every need was catered to. The owner even talked to me for like 15 minutes. The second time I came with my friend and her daughter. Now this place is small and honestly has swanky NYC vibes although dress is casual. I wouldn’t recommend bringing children, especially small children here. HOWEVER, the waitstaff was so accommodating, they held the stroller in their closet, made the chicken bao bun less spicy and brought out some potatoes (that were also divine) for us to enjoy for a kid friendly feast. We were the only ones with a small child and they made us feel so welcome.Third, the vibe is elegant, and chic. Nice natural wood, very clean. I felt like I was transported out of VA to a foreign place. The music is sexy, the vibe is sexy. Great chill date night or business lunch.I am very perplexed why this restaurant isn’t 4.8 stars or better. The food is magnificent and consistent, the service is unmatched, and the vibe is chic…what more do you want or need?!Thank you Yunnan! I will be backkkk

Food was pretty good though I think this is the first restaurant I’ve ever been asked to leave due to an incoming reservation. We (party of 3) were in the process of leaving anyways but being asked to leave when we’ve been there for under 45 minutes from our own reservation and sitting down at the table. Left a bad impression on an otherwise pleasant experience.

Yes, it is as good as it looks! Such exquisite food. 色香味全满分。Tucked in a stone throw away from the river is the serene and intimate Yunnan. The Dino Beef Rib ?platter so juicy and perfectly seasoned. The 3 fried bao bun and the not too spicy pepper sauce were excellent accompaniments with the pickled onions. The crispy rice with the cumin seasoning… yum ?The bento box choices were all great. We tried 6 small plates, crab and duck dumplings, beef soup and lettuce wrap. The cheesecake custards ? for sweets were top notch also. Our server was very friendly and helpful.Somebody give this place a Michelin star or two. ? ?You can take a nice stroll along the river but hurry before they moved to another location in July 1024.

- Service was great- Restaurant interior is elegant- Appetizers were fantastic (cucumbers and pork dumplings)- "Little Pot" flavor was good, but the noodles... For me they were terrible! Comparable to Cambell's chicken noodle soup can noodles. Partially my fault for not noticing they are gluten free egg or rice noodles. Big let down and did not scratch my noodle fix from a noodle house..

Everything is great here. We got the bao bun with fried chicken which is delicious. We also ordered the braised beef lu. It comes with lots of meat and yummy rice noodles. The meal is a bit pricy though. A bowl of noodles costs around 22-30 dollars.

This is a tucked away spot in Old Town. The food is delicious and very well thought out. We ordered the dumplings, barbecue, garlic rice, and the little pot. The duck yarou was one of our favorite dishes. It was perfect. The cherry on top was the une dessert, which was perfectly sweet and the crust was out of this world. It was a Friday night, and there was a large dinner party, but it was so LOUD it ruined the tranquil essence one might expect from a dumpling haven. While the ambiance may not have aligned with the intended serenity of a dumpling retreat, the culinary experience at this establishment was undeniably exceptional. If you're willing to overlook a bit of noise for the sake of sensational dumplings, this place is worth a visit.

Words cannot describe how incredible the food is. So many flavors and flavor combinations we had no idea were possible. Even one of my friends who is not an adventurous eater enjoyed everything.

If you have been to Yunnan, I think this place will leave you disappointed. I was expecting something super yummy that would transport me back to China but this was just not it. The beef noodles I ordered tasted sweet and lacked flavor. The chili sauce I asked for made them better, but they were still mediocre at best. The buns and other dishes we ordered were also just okay. The only dish that really hit the spot was the fried tofu which was actually *very* delicious. Last of all, waitstaff need to check the chopsticks before putting them out on tables and consider switching to a different material. The chopsticks on our table had lots of black spots on them and the ones they brought out to replace them only looked slightly better.

Firstly it is a small establishment, small space, that said it is nice and cozy. The place is very busy. The service was fine, even though our waiter didn't ask if we wanted something to drink, water was provided the whole time. The food was, how should I say? A disappointment, everything we had was way underseasoned, somewhat bland, unappealing. I feel it is overrated. We came, we saw, tasted, experienced it, we won't be back.

Should have left after the wine glass had lipstick markings. Waiters carrying glassware with their fingers all inside smh. Chairs were stained. Food was wayyy over priced and not even that good every dish has some overpowering spice or herb I couldn't figure out. Little pot was bland. Very disappointed and cramped. Me and the hubby had upset stomachs all night.
