I would definitely recommend that anyone stop at Edith's for breakfast if they're in the area and want some classic breakfast food. The homefries have a little bit of onion mixed in and they are extremely tasty, and the eggs and hash are also very good and cooked perfectly. The food isn't greasy unlike many other diners you'll visit, and the service is great. Everyone there is very pleasant and accommodating.
My family of 5 stopped in here for a hearty, homestyle breakfast after four days of hiking the Appalachian Trail in Shenandoah Nat'l Park. Everyone was satisfied and the family operated restaurant fit the bill perfectly. Would definitely stop in again if passing through the area! Food was good, service was down home and fast, prices were fine.
Wonderful Southern cooking with Edith's special touch. Sunday lunch is a treat for our family. Special meal selections on holidays. You're family at Edith's!
Great food, took me back to grandma's. Even met Edith herself. Local family trying to make a living, doing what they love.
We got breakfast there this morning. We both had 2 eggs over medium ( mine was cooked too much), bacon , toast and apples. We had coffee but she brought us a cup each . Our bill was $39 almost $40. That is with a $5 tip. Way too much for breakfast. It was ok, but will not go back because of prices.
Breakfast served all day!! Home sausage 😋 catfish, just to name a few dishes. Great prices. Who can beat that.
Small portions for high prices. Also an employees little boy was stationed front of house watching cartoons in their big screen. Went to pay and card machine wasn’t working. Ten min later, we offered cash and still got charged the amount with the credit card fee. Menus were all disgusting.
So good and friendly staff.
We are in Shipman. We did a search for diners in our area and ran across Edith’s. We gave it a try and the food was good and so was the service. Nice folks who check on us multiple times to ensure we had everything we needed. We had no idea they even existed. Just off 29 in Amherst. Stop in and see for yourself!
First time here. Couldn't believe the prices... very high for what you get. Had the western omelette. Was ok. Definitely like home cooked, nothing special. Biscuit was tough... like it was microwaved. No coffee refill. Service was good and fast. Won't go back but we do like to support the small business owner.

How have we missed this!?!?!
We have been driving through Amherst for 25+ years and never knew about Edith's. We will never pass through again without stopping! Great breakfast. Down-home atmosphere. Sweetest server you have ever met! (not sure if the server was Edith, or if the other gal in the kitchen is Edith, but they're great either way). Country spicy sausage was like nothing you'll find at the super market. 100% recommend!
Great food prepared by wonderful people.
Thanks for being there.
This place is great! Did not even realize it was here. A great diner, with delicious food, great atmosphere and Edith is amazing.
This place! I am telling you, this place! Go to here. We came to it because of the review and they. do. not. lie. Mrs Edith is an absolute delight, her food is too good.
Food for a vegetarian.
Vegetarian options: Salads, solely vegetable dishes
Kid-friendliness: Mrs Edith is a great grandmother! There's one in here right now and she's absolutely adorable. She's got the Disney channel on right now & kids love that stuff.
