Entering here, we were taken back to another time. We were in town hoping to see the Historic End of the Civil War complex during the early days of the shutdown. The waitress asked us if we were here to see the 'Surrenderin' Grounds'. Excuse me? The 'Surrenderin' Grounds' What a unique way to describe this place. I digress, the food was good, the service was good, the menu was not modern. Hot roast beef sandwich, so good but seldom seen. Worth a stop

We were visiting the Appomattox Courthouse park and stopped in for lunch. My husband had the special Country fried steak which he said was AMAZING! I had the veggie plate and loved every bite . The stewed tomatoes were especially delicious, they tasted just like my grandma used to to make !

Food was okay. Tastes like they get their food from the same frozen food companies as most other restaurants. found it to be pretty expensive for what you actually get. The staff were super nice and friendly.

Canned green beans. Corn pudding tasteless, canned creamed corn with some sugar. Sandwich doesn’t even come with chips, fries, or even a pickle. Salmon cakes, the special, were dry and inedible. Minuscule order of French fries and a small scoop of corn pudding added $6.00 to my bill. Total was $47.00 (plus tip) for a lousy lunch for three people. Waitress stood and gossiped with friends at the next table, never bothered to even refill my tea. Don’t you bother. Go to Pizza Hut or Taco Bell instead, at least you know what you are getting.
