We had a very relaxing 2 night stay at this historic bed and breakfast. We knew we would be a bit late arriving on our first night, so we ordered a Southern Cheese board to be waiting in our room. The board included cheese, fruit, bread and apple butter… a perfect snack. We had Dinner the next night which was a well planned and delicious multi- course fare. Breakfast both mornings was a treat, we especially loved the yogurt and fruit drizzled with molasses! Our room was perfect, the bed was comfortable, the shower had good water pressure and the shutters on the windows are just the thing for light control and privacy. Talia was so friendly and helpful and her husband the chef is a culinary artist! We will definitely return ❤️
We booked a room for our anniversary for a single night and it was lovely. The house is beautiful and well appointed. We loved the large screened in porch as we sat out there enjoying a bottle of wine without having to deal with bugs. Breakfast was delicious and prepared specifically to our plant based needs. High praise for this beautiful B&B!
My Husband and I had an Amazing time at The Babcock House. I needed accommodations for two days and a first floor room and I was able to call and request exactly what we needed. Check in was so easy. The location was my hometown where I was born and raised so it was nice to show my husband where I grew up. Breakfast was delicious Saturday and Sunday.. I would recommend this location to anyone. This is our second stay and we are excited to reserve our next trip..
Thank You
The Inn at Babcock House
Beware of having to cancel! I gave them 2 months notice. They are not kind enough to refund if you are very unwell and can't make it. I have cancelled 20 accommodations across America this week because my husband is very sick. No problems with any of them except Babcock House. We are coming from Australia so it's unlikely we can do this trip in the next six months so it's not a helpful deal. I am sure it's a very nice place to stay though.
I've stayed here a couple of times. The home has a nice feel to it overall. One of the owners is a chief and I have found the breakfast to be quite good on both occasions.
We visited the Babcock House for one night on our visit of Appomattox. It was a very charming bed-and-breakfast that should be known not only for their wonderful hospitality, but also for their amazing food! I highly recommend ordering the four course dinner with your room!
I highly recommend staying here. If we are ever in the area again, we will return!
B&B with fantastic food.
This is a historical bed and breakfast that has truly amazing food. I had an issue with my car and had to reschedule. Talia was amazing and super accommodating with my car issues. It is a short walk from the old downtown Appomattox Court House, which doesn't have much but has a really nice coffee shop. The bed and breakfast has a lot of seating areas just to lounge around and meet new people. It is immaculate and has nice bathrooms.
The best part about this place was the food. They use high-quality ingredients and cook them to near perfection. I definitely recommend getting the all-inclusive package, as they have an amazing selection of wine and draft beers. The package also comes with a cheeseboard for your trip the next day. The cheeseboard included homemade bread, high-quality cheese, olives, pickles, fruits, and prosciutto. The breakfast was really good as well, with expensive brunch restaurant quality.
If I revisit Appomattox Court House, I will definitely stay here again and enjoy their amazing food.
Walking up to the Babcock house was more exciting than my trips to Disney! Talia was such a gem and helped me with my luggage after a northern mockingbird greeted me next to my parking space.
Once inside, my hopes for this weekend were exceeded. A cozy, yet spacious, and well decorated interior make the perfect environment for a relaxing weekend for the weary to recover and heal.
The historical town and Bain's coffee up the street just added to the marvelous accommodations. The gift shop that shares a parking lot with the train depot had wonderful gifts and fantastic prices!
Food was beyond my dreams. Perfection on a plate, my senses were delighted at the entire experience. The chef is talented, uses the freshest of ingredients and makes everything from scratch. Despite my peculiar tastes with food, absolutely everything was something I adored. The hospitality and customized accommodations to help relax: are not something not common when I am normally traveling.
I slept like a rock for the first time in weeks and woke up refreshed and grateful. Afterwards I luxuriated in a lovely shower in the super clean, down to even the tiny often overlooked details, seriously, bathroom which is also decorated with such obvious love and care.
The french press coffee, fresh fruit, omelettes and salads served in the morning were also presented with absolute attention to detail. Again, the chef listened to my preferences and that alone made me feel so comfortable sitting at the table. We discussed how Charles manages to make such a beautiful presentation, no matter the dish.
I've gone on for far too long, but I think you dear reader might get the point. This place is worth it the drive. Come and relax, enjoy the southern charm, hospitality and history lessons.
What a beautiful venue! I visited for a holiday party for my work, and it was wonderful service and amazing food. Thank you for your hospitality!
The Babcock house hosted our office Christmas Party. The food was amazing!!! Chef Charles really knows how to elevate his dishes! Most of the ingredients he grows and harvests himself. Talia and her staff made sure our glasses never got empty and were a delight during service. The rooms are very elegantly period furnished and the entire house / grounds are spotless clean. I highly recommend this venue if you’re local or traveling through.

As a longtime business journalist in the DC area, I covered hospitality for decades. Every once in awhile, I like to visit cool places close to Washington.
Appomattox fit the bill with its incredible place in history and lovely Virginia countryside.
The Babcock House was warm, welcoming, and peaceful. Innkeepers Talia and Charles knocked it out of the park. This historic home is outstanding. Our room was perfectly appointed, private, and filled with beautiful antiques and personal touches.
And the food! Absolutely delicious. Thank you for accommodating my partner's gluten-free requirement. We enjoyed every minute of our stay at The Babcock House.
We stayed at The Babcock House after touring Appomattox Courthouse National Historic Park. We seek out small historic places to stay and this fit the bill perfectly. Check in was super easy and our room was clean, comfortable and quiet. It even had a gas fireplace to take the edge off the fall change in weather. We chose to have dinner there, its an option when you book, and we are SOO glad we did. The food was fabulous. They have a wine list and beer on tap. Our breakfast the following morning was equally as good. Talia and Charles run a first class place to stay and eat. If your travels take you to Appomattox, I strongly recommend staying here.
Lovely inn situated on beautiful grounds that are well maintained. Room and bathroom are so clean. Great location; only 5 minutes from Appomattox Courthouse National Historic Park. I spent 1/2 the day there today. I look forward to an easy return tomorrow to enjoy the whole day there during Veterans Day celebrations. It is wonderful how quiet it is here.
Wonderful place to stay! We loved our room! The bed was great we slept like babies. Loved the convenience of the location. Clean, quiet, very well maintained Definitely will stay again.
In search of a mini getaway, my husband and I were fortunate enough to spend two nights at The Inn at the Babcock House. It was a perfect stay! Each morning, we were treated to delicious breakfasts that were beautifully presented, thoughtfully prepared, and included fresh produce from the garden. We highly recommend booking the All Inclusive Package for one of the nights of your stay. We enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere while enjoying a top-notch culinary experience without needing to leave the Inn. The Patterson Room was spacious and comfortable and we woke each morning refreshed. Talia and Charles have clearly put forth lots of care and attention to detail in everything ranging from the decor to the carefully curated menus. This was an all-around fantastic visit and we look forward to returning in the future.
