Delightful little bakery with cute vibes and a phenomenal selection of treats. I first fell in love with the Georgetown location of Bakeshop for its variety of vegan and gluten-free items, and the Clarendon spot is no different. They offer a ton of standard, vegan, or gluten-free cookies, cupcakes, and cakes; each one is as delicious as the next.
However, if you're in the mood for something savory (and distinctly non-vegan), their breakfast sandwiches are also delightful. I passed the Clarendon Bakeshop location on my way to the metro station on a Friday morning and decided to stop to treat myself to a nice, warm breakfast. I got their everything croissant -- which is perfectly flaky and comes studded with plenty of everything bagel seasoning -- and added a scrambled egg and slice of cheese. The egg was perfectly soft and fluffy, and the melted cheese helped to bind the whole thing together. You usually have to wait for a few minutes for the breakfast sandwiches, but the space is nice and cozy, and it's a good opportunity to peruse their pastry selections.

Super unique and tasty macaron flavors. We got candy cane, taro and eggnog. Cant wait to come back and try everything else. Staff was also very friendly and relaxed!

Basing my review on what I've had since others seemed to like some of other baked goods. TLDR, expensive and mediocre.
Ice Cream Sandwiches - tasted great and large portions. I had trouble finishing even while sharing it with another person. I felt like it was too much in the end in terms of sweetness but definitely user error and I should've moderated.
Taro Cake (single slice) - mediocre. The cake is well baked, soft, and moist but the flavor is just alright. The taro doesn't really stand out.
Banana Pudding - tasted okay, nothing to write home about.
Vegan Raspberry/Chocolate Cake - dense and overly sweet. This was an expensive disappointment. The cake tasted okay but was very dense (I've had non-dense vegan cakes) while the buttercream was overly sweet. People either ate around the buttercream or scooped it off completely. The raspberry jam tasted artificial and people couldn't immediately tell it was raspberry. Decorations were decent with the words nicely iced. Also for the price I paid, I'd thought they'd include some candles but instead I had to pay additional for the candles, which were so conventionally placed next to the register.

I am absolutely livid with my experience at this bakeshop. I spent over $100 on loaves for Thanksgiving, pre-ordered them two weeks in advance, and scheduled a pickup for 6 PM. When I arrived at 6, I was shocked to find out they had pulled my order from the freezer. After paying premium prices, I expected *fresh* bread—not frozen! If I wanted frozen bread, I could have bought Sara Lee from Walmart for a fraction of the price. To make matters worse, they told me they had “run out of loaves,” even though I had placed and paid for my order in advance. Apparently, walk-in customers took all the fresh loaves, leaving pre-paid orders like mine out in the cold. I can understand if I hadn’t pre-ordered or pre-paid, but this is absolutely ridiculous.
And the cherry on top? When I complained, the girl literally said, “Well, what do you want me to do?” Unbelievable. I am beyond irate and will never set foot in this place again. Save your money unless you want frozen food, and don’t waste your time with pre-ordering.

Early afternoon on a Saturday, had an OBX and a coffee, absolutely delicious. Biscuit was fresh and crumbly at just the right amount. Not too expensive and really chill atmosphere. Staff are attentive and polite.
Wheelchair accessibility: Accessible from sidewalk with no steps or ramps needed. Plenty of space inside to manuever.

Another 5 Star experience, keep up the great baked goods and excellent service!
Me and my boyfriend and I absolutely love this baked shop. My favorite are the macarons. When I tell you they are WORTH EVERY PENNY 🥰 I just want to hand them my wallet and buy sleeve after sleeve. I've been coming here for about 5 years and the macarons look bigger, which is totally fine. I buy a sleeve and eat 1 or 2 and save the rest for the next 2 weeks. If you take them home and put them in the fridge (if you like them that way), they are chewier .💗. Also, they have flavors that are straight out of a willy wonka dream. My experience is always amazing. The only thing thats a bummer is they DO NOT TAKE CASH. I found this out the hard way after 10 minutes of my boyfriend and I picking out our treats. The lady helping was really nice but then we had to drive 30 minutrs to and from a bank to paymobile/card. Just keep that in mind. Everyone was super nice about it, though, and they even gave us free water for our mini adventure we had to take. Just be prepared to pay card or mobile even if you dont see any signs, they didnt have any signs up that we could clearly see (and I looked) after we were made aware. If there are any, it's not visible. Other than that, I will continue to shop here. So even the situation about the card wasn't really bad, just a hick up. I just wanted to let you all know how to pay so that nobody else will be caught off guard. 😊 Do yourself a favor and buy one of these delicous treats! 💙
