The food was good. The service was even better. Lots of delicious African treats that this bakery makes and my favorite is their marble bread.

What an amazing find on the back roads of Arlington. Real food at a great price. Absolutely authentic. The staff live the values of genuine Ethiopian hospitality and the joy of good food.

I've been to Dama a few times and honestly it's the best Ethiopian food in the DMV. The service is always quick and the food is so delicious.
Pro tip since you won't have room for dessert: make sure to visit the bakery side before dinner to grab some pastries to take home.
You'll thank yourself later.

I ordered a birthday cake for my son’s 6th birthday and sent them a picture of exactly what I wanted. I also requested that the cake be made with minimum sugar. I went in person too again to make sure that they got everything right. When I arrived to pick up the cake, they first handed me a completely different cake with someone else’s name on it! When I told them that it wasn’t mine, they just took it back without even apologizing. what a disrespectful and unprofessional way to handle a customer.
Then, to make matters worse, my actual cake wasn’t even ready. I had to wait almost two hours while they scrambled to put something together from whatever they could find. It was obvious they were just assembling pieces last minute, with no care or attention to the original order.
When they finally brought the cake out, it looked nothing like the picture I sent. It was a completely different design, and when I pointed that out, the staff acted carelessly and said things like “I can do it this way too, you want it this way?” at the very last minute! It was clear they hadn’t even looked at the photo or followed the instructions. If they have looked into the picture, they would not even mess it up in the first place. How disrespectful is this.
The worst part is that the cake was the simplest design I’ve ever ordered, so there was no excuse for such negligence. They completely ruined my son’s special day with their lack of professionalism. I would never recommend this place to anyone who cares about quality, communication, or reliability.

Mulushewa Grill and Bar in downtown Silver Spring offers a lively atmosphere, convenient location, delicious Ethiopian cuisine, great service, and good music. Highly recommended! The service was great 👍 thank you.

I recently ordered catering for an event and was thoroughly disappointed with the quality of the food. Here’s a breakdown of my experience:
- Rice: It was dry and uninviting, making it difficult to enjoy.
- Ayib: This was served cold and lacked the buttery richness I expected, leaving it quite bland.
- Gomen: The portion was disappointingly small and watery. I had ordered based on the number of guests, but it clearly wouldn’t serve even half of them.
- Tibs: Absolutely tasteless—there was no salt or any green peppers to enhance the dish.
- Kitfo: This was perhaps the biggest letdown. The spices provided were not proportional to the amount of meat, resulting in a lackluster flavor.
- Ethiopian Bread: It tasted dry and reminiscent of Berber’s, which was not what I had hoped for.
Overall, everything about this catering was a disappointment. I cannot recommend their services to anyone planning an event.

We had the meat combo with lentils, yellow peas, and cabbage as our veggie options, and it was perfect for sharing between two people. The food is delicious and authentically Ethiopian, and the service was great! Our waitress was attentive and happy to help, especially if you're new to Ethiopian cuisine.
The restaurant has a casual vibe, making it a great spot to enjoy a relaxed meal. We were missing Ethiopian food, and Dama definitely hit the spot.
After our meal, we stopped by the bakery for a slice of double chocolate cake, but I would pass on it next time. The cake was a bit dry, and the chocolate flavor didn’t quite hit the mark for me.
Overall, I highly recommend Dama Restaurant for anyone craving authentic Ethiopian food!
