This is my usual hangout during the day. It's more pleasant than other coffee shops (esp. 'bucks). Good food, coffee, sweets. Nice background music. Quiet and usually not crowded. Staff friendly.

I’ve been coming to Detour for the past four years. I do have a home office, a nearby library, and plenty of coffee shops around me but I still schedule time to do homework, have lunch or dinner, and just exist at Detour. Among all the coffee shops in Old Town, Lorton, and D.C., Detour stands out because of the kindness of the staff. I’ve seen many employees behind the counter over the years, but their consistent brand has always been the same: kindness, respect, and genuine joy. If there’s ever an issue, they approach you with the kindest demeanor, and that alone makes me feel safe to eat, socialize, and listen to my music there. Plus, their coffee is delicious.
Detour is truly a gem of Arlington.

Very warm and welcoming atmosphere. I mostly get coffee/Americano/Latte and hang here. They got a nifty/nice outdoor patio to lounge and enjoy when the weather is nice.
Staff is friendly and nice. The 'energy bites' are a nice snack to complement the coffee drinks. I mostly enjoy the coffee drinks, but the few times I have the food here, it was quite good!

Detour Coffee is easily one of my new favorite spots: the atmosphere is vibrant and lively, the music is great, and the service is consistently warm and welcoming. Yousef and Laila are excellent, they bring so much energy and kindness to the experience that it genuinely elevates the whole place. The dirty chai is so good and I’m excited to come back and try The Magician. Highly recommend.

I waited 20 minutes for a coffee. There were two people working the coffee station. The guy working there was just chitchatting, gave some girl a free drink and when I asked for ours said sorry we are really busy. I asked how much longer they said another 10 minutes. I left without coffee after paying $15 for 2.

Phenomenal food in a chill environment. This is my go-to coffee shop in VA. Everything I've ordered has blown me away - the falafel burger, breakfast hash, halloumi and watermelon salad, levant toast. Wow - so so delicious, not to mention in a city full of mediocre fries, their lunch fries are a breath of fresh air - crispy and seasoned, I would visit for those alone. The coffees are more expensive than other places ($7-9 before modification) but they have fun flavors I haven't seen elsewhere. If they had a rewards program I would come here obsessively. Staff are friendly and every time I have come it has been pretty busy, even in the middle of the week. They have an outdoor patio area that is cute. Limited on site parking. Definitely recommend supporting 🇵🇸

I ordered the Detour Delight (pistachio white chocolate latte) in large. The shell is 8 oz for $10. A 12oz for 12. One staff was very rude to the staff she was training. The latte wasn’t blended. The esprit was nonexistent. But seeing how the Dunkin across the street has a 2 star rating, I guess people in the area settle for this place.
Excellent customer service. They were friendly and polite. I love their London fog (new). I have a chocolate croissant. It was delicious, but wish they warmed it up for me. I also had a free bag of popcorn. Many young people came here. They were nice and fun too.

This spot is the best! There are so many food and drink options. The sandwiches and fries are delicious and really surprised me. I love that it’s a little dark and cozy. Great spot to work from. I do wish they would touch up the furniture, benches, etc. there are pretty significant holes in the upholstery and padding that seems worse for wear.
