This is not authentic Peruvian food. Cooked by Central Americans, chicken aji doesn't have an authentic flavor.

For flavor, friendly staff, and down to earth settings, El Fuego is worth a visit. I’ve been going there for about 4 years now and always have a great experience. It’s a small place with limited seating but if you’re with family or friends you’ll enjoy. The setting is very laid back so go for the food. You’ll be glad you did. This time I tried the pollo tallarin saltado while my wife had the arroz con pollo. All very good.

We were out of towners going down I95 and this was the closest Peruvian place on our way to NJ. This review is based on my expectations from Peruvian restaurants in North jersey- specifically Paterson. First impression, it was a take out/fast food Peruvian place-limited menu. My family ordered 4 lomo platters with chicken and beef, green spaghetti and causa. The causa was great. The lomo was not what i expected. The ingredients were there but the portions were disproportionate. Oversized potato and large onions and large cut up chicken pieces and beef pieces but a small portion of protein. The pesto green spaghetti was bland to me. The green ajis were not the right recipe. Also, i believe that if pay $20 a plate I should not have to eat with a plastic fork. Sidenote: I enjoyed the authentic game of Sapo that the kids were playing.

The first time I came here and ordered pan con chicharrón it was delicious, one of the best I’ve had. However, today, it was absolute disgusting. Not only was the sandwich drenched in grease, it was basically a roasted fat sandwich with a bits of pork meat in between. Definitely not coming back.

The flavors of the food are so delicious and the ingredients are clearly high quality. We had the arroz con pollo and the avocado with garlic shrimp - all cooked and seasoned to perfection. Highly recommend and I am a VERY picky eater in terms of flavor and quality!

The homemade chicha morada was enough to make me want to come back! Delicious! We’re vegetarian and they were very nice and accommodating. Had a tofu saltado and it was yummy! Papa a la huancaina was like my mom’s and it was a very filling serving. Also had tallarín verde with a fried egg and that was good too. Definitely coming back. Want to try the lucuma gelato next time. :)

My husband and I have been a big fan of El Fuego for years! He is Peruvian and considers El Fuego his favorite Peruvian restaurant. We recently got married and had El Fuego cater our wedding. First of all, Lucia had us in for an amazing tasting of the dishes we were interested in for the wedding. She was extremely easy to work with and flexible! They delivered the food to our venue on the day of and everyone loved it! Many people at the wedding have never had Peruvian food before but now they are big fans :) they were even able to bring a ceviche plate for my friend who does not eat meat and she said it was fresh and delicious.

Was a last minute stop after a trip into D.C. to see the Christmas trees. This place did NOT disappoint one bit. The cashier/waitress was super friendly and patient while we looked over the menu to decide what we wanted. She was also very informative and made suggestions as to what was good. We settled on the Pan Con Chicharron, the Cuban sandwich and the Aji de Gallina. The food came out very quickly, was piping hot and DELICIOUS!! The Aji de Gallina was so flavorful and I told my husband that it was like eating comfort food. SO good! The Pan Con Chicharron sandwich was amazing. The meat was flavorful and moist - and the crunch of the red onion just added to the enjoyment. I would order this one again!! I love a Cuban sandwich and this one did not disappoint. Perfect Cuban sandwich! We washed it all down with a nice cold Inca Cola.? If you're in the area, this little hole-in-the-wall is a MUST TRY!

1st time at this hole in the wall Peruvian Restaurant in Arlington, VA. What a pleasant surprise. Walked in as they were wrapping it up for the evening. We were received with the warmest smile. Great service, the food came out quickly and ? hot. But the flavor and taste were right on point. Will definitely visit again when in the area.

The service is fast and good in customer service. The bread with chicharrón is very good but the alfajores are hard and flavorless. There is parking, and tables and chairs for consumption but unfortunately there is a lack of ventilation and the dining room smells of all types of food that is transmitted on people's hair and clothes.
