It was the first time for us to go to Gyukaku in the US although we tried them in Japan several times. They have a different menu from the Japanese one and the dipping sauces on the table are also different but they keep the Japanese service level which we expected, so we were glad to come here to enjoy the Yakinuku BBQ.We were tempted to order the all you can eat in a hour because it looked like a good deal. However we are pros so we decided to order the cuts of meat that we like the most. All the cuts were great and marinated well. The cooking surfaces were cleaned and they even replaced it during our meal so that all the food can cook cleanly and properly which we appreciated. The matcha cake was also good and would pair well with a plum wine sake.Would recommend coming here to give the diy Yakinuku a try in DC.

This place is UHHHH-MAZINGGGG! From the service to the food to the atmosphere! Everything about this place was wonderful! I recommend trying their Corn dish! Sounds so basic right?! BUT IT IS SOOOOOOO DELICIOUS! Never loved corn so much until I had theirs lol ? also, they literally portion out the perfect amount of meats that you order for grilling. They also have SMORES!! I toasted my marshmallow over the grill and smusheddd my s'more together. It was perfect! They also have some delicious alcoholic beverages! If you haven't tried Japanese BBQ you are missing out! What are you waiting for? Put that address in that GPS and go get you some GOOD EATS! ENJOY!

Good food: fine quality meat (not the greatest, but good nevertheless). Excellent lady (Yao Yao) assisting at the table. Two less good points: (1) we were informed only when we arrived that we would have the table for 1 hour 45 minutes. May seem enough, but food did not start to arrive until 20 minutes had elapsed. At the end, we had to rush to finish our s'mores so we could vacate in time. (2) We had notified the restaurant that it was my son's 18th birthday, but they did not sing for him, bring out a piece of cake for him, or acknowledge in any way. Disappointing.

The perfect place to celebrate a special occasion or just for a fun date. Beware - come with an empty stomach because it’s so much (amazing) food! Shout out to Dough for being such an amazing server/instructor! He made our day!

Service was excellent we were never in need. The Garlic Rice was exquisite. I like the Garlic Spinach and Mushroom (I like garlic), but the cooking pouches took most of the grill space.

Had to wait for our table despite having a reservation on a Saturday night which I was fine with. Had a cocktail at the bar as we waited. Finally got seated and then there was no server to come by for at least another 30 mins it felt like. Thankful the person I'm assuming who was the manager that night from the front came and took our order. Wait another 45 mins if not long to the point before our food even came out they were doing last call. Food though at least tasted fresh and was good. Cooking process could be improved. The items often stick to the grill and the flimsy tongs are not designed to be used for that purpose. Every surface was sticky which was kind of gross. The sauce bottles in particular were so sticky we refrained from using them. This place has seen better days. And my god the party next to us was so loud it was near impossible to converse with my guest nor could the other diners near us.

Service was poor and irritating this time. Our server was rude and very dismissive. We shared most of the food that we ordered. When we ordered 1 soda, she was literally guarding us because according to her sharing the soda is not allowed because it was refillable. We've dined in this restaurant several times and this is the first I've heard that sharing a soda is not allowed. Because of her tight guarding, I finally told her that we don't need a refill, so you don't have to guard us in consuming the soda and you can go away. End of story!!!!

This is a hidden gem restaurant in Arlington. Food is delicious and at a very good price, the service is outstanding! I ordered kids menu (very large portions for only 6.5$), my kids love they can do their own s’mores in the grill (complementary for kids!). I love their spicy addicting cucumber salad and spicy cabbage salad. We will come back for sure!Vegetarian options: Great vegetarian salads and sidesKid-friendliness: They have a great kids menu and the staff is very friendly accommodating their needs

Love the smaller portions of the variety of meat! The appetizers are also amazing and you can’t beat the happy hour prices here. All drinks are wonderful and the service is always consist. I’ve become a regular for the last 5 years. Also the mobile app is great! The reward system is worth it.

Great unique experience! House Bbq sauces are all delicious!! Staff super friendly an attentive??Vegetarian options: Plenty of options but not geared toward vegetarians. They have asparagus and ? you can grill as well.Parking: Resturant sits off on a side road where you may find a free spot, but that's lucky! But there is a decent amount of paid street parking on the main road.Kid-friendliness: Hot grill right at the table, but my 11 year old had fun it was a good learning tool for her, I think as well

A very good Japanese BBQ place in Clarendon, VA. The manager in the picture and our server were awesome. You pick from the menu, an option based on the number of people in your team. The fixed price per person is $40, plus tips. You get to cook your meats on a grill in front of you. The sake, also in a Pic below, was very good. They also have locations in the NY metro area. Give it a go!Vegetarian options: Limited.Parking: 10 to 20.Kid-friendliness: Not recommended, as there's live fire on the table.

Service was very unfriendly. We have to call her several time to change the grills. She forgot to switch on and regulate properly the grill so the food sticked to the grill most of the time. Also, we found a hair in the white rice. Very disappointing because we loved the first time we came.
