On check in the place was really busy with busloads of kids also waiting for their rooms. At one point I asked the front desk staff if we would be on a floor with the teens as our last experience at a Marriott in the area was not good and I didn’t want a repeat of the same sort of experience. That couldn’t be guaranteed as the kids were pretty much located on every floor. Nothing against kids or teens at all, we had our own teenager and a baby with us. Front desk staff was apologetic for the delay in check in and gave us a discount on parking. We didn’t ask for it, but the gesture was greatly appreciated. The hotel was quiet and the only issue we found was that the breakfast area was quite busy due to lots of hungry teens in the morning, all of whom I should add were very polite and respectful. I would consider staying here again on future trips.

NOISY! This has to be the noisiest hotel I have ever experienced. In addition to the street noise, and it’s not even in the district!, the doors slam shut. LOUDLY. So loud that it’s startling if you happen to be asleep, which is difficult because of the construction noise right beside the hotel. Also, the bed is terribly uncomfortable. Very disappointing for a Marriott hotel.

I chose this hotel for the proximity to the airport and closest metro station as the hotel provides a shuttle service to each. The shuttle runs every 30 minutes to each of those locations and during our 3 day visit, we utilized this service every day. The shuttle was on-time every single time. The driver even assisted with loading/unloading our bags at the airport pick-up/drop off. Check-in was pretty seamless. Front desk workers were friendly, helpful and very professional. Our room was spotless and the beds were very comfortable. The free breakfast had plenty of options and the food was good. We did not use any of the hotel amenities since we basically just used the hotel for a place to sleep and transportation during our short visit, so I can not speak of those. While we were there, we wanted to explore Alexandra, Arlington as well as DC. This was a perfect location for doing just that. I would highly recommend this property to others, especially first timers to the area. We had a great vacation!

We were going to be staying in the Washington DC area for a week. For the first night, I wanted a hotel right near the airport because we were arriving late in the evening. I made a reservation at the Residence Inn Arlington Capital View and received a confirmation. In the airport, we easily found the free shuttle to the hotel. We intended to get dinner in the area after checking in. There are many restaurants within walking distance of the hotel, which is one of the reasons I'd selected this hotel. The shuttle got us to the hotel at around 9 p.m. We waited in line at reception while other guests checked in. When it was our turn, the receptionist could not find our reservation. He went to find the Operations Manager, who came out and told us that they'd accidentally overbooked the hotel and they'd had to cancel our reservation. However, they'd gotten us a room at a "sister hotel" across town, and the stay would be complimentary. They would send us there by cab. We'd need to pay for the cab ourselves, but we'd later be reimbursed upon emailing them a receipt from the cab driver. The cab reimbursement would be by check sent to us in the mail. The hotel we were sent to was a SpringHill Suites. While a complimentary stay was a nice gesture, the hotel was awful. There was no place within walking distance to get a meal so we had to settle for snacks from the hotel's snack area. We bought Hot Pockets to microwave in our room, but the microwave was broken. The room's air conditioning system cycled on and off every five minutes all night long and was very loud and rattling, making it impossible to sleep. A huge group of 8th graders was staying that night, for their class trip, making it a challenge to use the breakfast area in the morning. But at least it was free. I emailed our cab receipt to the operations manager of the Residence Inn Arlington Capital View, the person who had told me I'd be reimbursed. It has been six months now and the reimbursement check still hasn't come. It's not enough money to worry about, but on the principal of the matter, I've emailed the operations manager about it several times. He keeps promising that a check is on the way. At one point he said that a check was sent. However, we never got it.He then said he'd verify that it hadn't cleared, and if this was the case, they'd mail another. To date, there has been no reimbursement check. It's been six months! The cancellation of our room with no prior notice, news given to us at the reception desk at 9 p.m., and the broken promise about cab reimbursement, are the reasons for my one star rating.

This is my 2nd stay at this property. Customer service is too lean. The hotel is fine if you don't need anything. When I arrived, the message light was blinking red on my phone next to the bed. I knew the message probably wasn't for me since no one knew where I was staying. I didn't want the red linking red light next to me while I slap so I hit the message button on the phone to listen to the message. And delete it, but the message button didn't work.. I tried a few times before calling the front desk. Reaching the front desk was a feat of its own. After calling and having it ring for several minutes only to hang up on me. I called back a few more times with the same result. When I did reach someone, They put me on hold to check on it but never came back. I then proceeded to attempt to call back several times. Each time, it rang for at least 5 minutes with no one answering. On the last attempt before I gave up, someone answered and said they would send someone from engineering up. They were quick to arrive but couldn't fix it. They said it would be 1.5 hours for someone to address. I said I needed to be asleep before then. They suggested I unplug the phone, which I did. I then realized there was no decaf coffee or cream. I once again attempted to call the front desk. After 6 attempts, someone answered the phone. I requested decaf coffee, cream, and Splenda. After 15 minutes, someone arrived with regular coffee cream and sugars. I had to request the proper items again. The room is a typical residence inn.

The hotel is clean but needs a refreshing. The sofa in our room was a sofa bed. The cushions were sinking into the sofa when we sat. Very uncomfortable. A single chair was worn and scratched. The rug had 2 stains on it. The rest of the room (bed, bathroom, kitchen, storage, closet ) were great. The rest of the property was updated, but this room needs attention. I always try to stay at Marriott because of their quality. This one is slipping.

I am a Marriott Titanium Member and spend more then half my work year in hotels. I have come to enjoy my Marriott Membership and the service I receive at most Marriott properties. I have stayed at this property multiple times over the past year and the staff are generally friendly and helpful. HOWEVER the hotel location means that you rely heavily on the hotel provided shuttle to the airport or metro station. In the past month I have had to wait long wait times, of close to or over an hour for shuttles that are supposed to run every 30 minutes. I have had to call the hotel front desk multiple times before finally be picked up. My complaint to the duty manager brushed off responsibility to others and did not provide me with the feeling that my business is important to them. I have decided to take my business to other Marriott properties that will appreciate my business and provide the level of service I have come to expect from Marriott.

Residence Inn is a Marriott International-owned hotel chain that was first established in 1975 and has since grown to become a popular choice for travelers seeking long-term accommodations. These hotels offer spacious suites that are designed to feel like a home away from home. Each suite typically features a living area, a fully-equipped kitchen, and a separate sleeping area. The rooms also come with free Wi-Fi, a flat-screen TV, and a work desk. The hotel chain caters to extended-stay travelers, with many locations offering special rates for long-term stays. These hotels are typically located in suburban or residential areas, making them a good choice for travelers who want a quieter and more residential setting. Overall, Residence Inn hotels offer comfortable and spacious accommodations with a variety of amenities that are well-suited for extended-stay travelers. This particular location is in Arlington and is one of the closest of these hotels to Reagan National Airport. Check-in was very easy with pleasant staff and a pleasant upscale atmosphere. The room was a very pretty affair with a kitchen and table and a large sitting room/bedroom together. The large screen TV was on a swivel to serve both rooms. We were hungry and were going to get some food from the pantry by the front desk. The staff recommended room service. I am glad they did. The food was easy to order, came immediately, and was absolutely delicious. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience and I would recommend staying here in the future.

We were flying out of DCA and opted to stay here the night before to enjoy an evening in Old Town and park here during our stay. Checking in was very slow, as they were busy and there were only two people working the front desk. The stay was nice, the room was clean and comfy and offered all the amenities. They next morning we went down to catch the shuttle, but had a question about the process and had to yell to get the clerk’s attention, he was clearly sleeping in the back room, since it was around 6AM. The shuttle ride from here to DCA was quick, as this place is really close to the airport. Upon landing and needing the shuttle to get back, we went to door number 4 at DCA on the lower level and waited for a very long time, we must’ve just missed him. During our wait, we saw the same shuttles from 2 other hotels stop by, who knows. Eventually he showed up and gave us a ride back. The gym here is huge! Not sure if it shares the gym with the Renaissance next door, but it seems they might. Equipment was in decent condition and clean too! Overall, not a bad deal to stay and park. But the shuttle system can add more delay, so plan accordingly.

Unfortunately hotel is ran down and we also faced few difficulties along the way. Room for Residence Inn standards is quite small with 90s furniture with weird smell, lock on doors not working properly, also bit dodgy chair in kitchen area. Staff quite unhelpful during check as well as when I received a package and took them 2 hours to locate the package (after multiple times we were said there was no package received, despite it was. We never received information where package was). Elevators during peak hours are overflown with people/kids on field trips and often broke down, so only 1 or 2 working during mornings when breakfast/check out happens. The positives are definitely location to DCA airport and security/concierge staff at doors.

I'm having trouble understanding the negative reviews... our room was great! Two king beds which was perfect for teens who hate to share a bed, a nice kitchen area, and lots of space in the room. The breakfast was in a nice space with lots of options, the parking worked out fine (pre-pay for a package deal through their website), the hotel is super close to the airport and in a good location to get around the city. But the deal maker was CARL who let us into our room early (as in super early) after a red-eye flight to catch a much needed nap... Would 100% recommend this hotel!

Can't say anything about billing or staff, yet, but what a serious let-down at this hotel! This places needs a facelift stat! Its so tired and yucky and the lights in the bathroom are great at the sink, and about 20 watts in the shower/toilet area. I would not elect to stay here again - I usually stay at a different property but this time elected to stay close to a conference.
