So delicious and reasonably priced! I highly recommend the arepas as a gluten-free and dairy-free option.
Dietary restrictions: Arepas are gluten-free and nut-free, and can be ordered dairy-free

Maizal in Pentagon City offers a delightful dining experience with its build-your-own concept or choose from chef curated flavors. On my visit, I was particularly impressed by the range of flavors and the freshness of the ingredients. The grilled chicken stood out with its succulent, well-seasoned taste, adding a hearty protein component to the bowl.
One of the highlights was the ability to customize every aspect of the meal. I chose to mix the fried and cilantro rice, which created a delightful blend of textures and flavors. The black beans and grilled corn provided a perfect balance of earthiness and sweetness, while the Cole slaw added a refreshing crunch. Topping it all off with cheese and Chimichurri sauce resulted in a meal that was both vibrant and satisfying.
The overall flavor profile was a harmonious blend of spicy, tangy, and savory notes, making each bite an adventure for the taste buds. The Chimichurri sauce, in particular, added a zesty kick that elevated the entire dish. It's clear that Maizal takes great care in ensuring their ingredients are fresh and well-prepared.
The friendly team at Maizal also contributed to the positive experience. As it was my first time there, they made excellent suggestions on how to maximize the flavors and create a balanced bowl. Their enthusiasm and knowledge about the menu were evident, making the ordering process smooth and enjoyable.
Maizal in Pentagon City is a fantastic spot for a customizable and flavorful meal. The build-your-own concept allows for a personalized dining experience that caters to individual tastes. With fresh ingredients, delicious grilled chicken, and a friendly team, Maizal is definitely worth a visit for anyone in the area looking for a satisfying and flavorful meal.

Was looking forward to try it out, went at 12:15pm and they weren’t open ?? not sure what’s up
I want to like this place. I love latin food and good arepas are hard to find. However, their online ordering system does not work (I have tried multiple times on multiple different sites) and everytime I go there the food does look non-fresh and like it has been sitting for a long time. It tastes fine enough, but definitely not super appetizing and also not worth it if they can't even get their online ordering to work.

I hate writing bad reviews… I know this place is fairly new, but I ordered the pollo burrito today and it was absolutely disgusting. It tasted really old, bland and gross. The burrito was cold, it was almost inedible. I couldn’t finish all of it. I threw most of it in the trash and bought another meal somewhere else. It also left a really bad taste in my mouth and gave me a stomach ache and heartburn. I don’t recommend this place and I would never return.

PLEASE DO NOT BELIEVE THE REVIEWS!! Me and my boyfriend wanted a good mea, we ordered the build your own burrito and some shrimp tacos. The burrito was smaller than my fist and the tacos didn’t taste fresh at all ?, instead of their usual cilantro rice they used plain white rice…the guacamole has WHOLE GRAPE TOMATOES in it….please STAY AWAY IF YOU CAN. If interested in Maizal I recommend the location at Skyland…waste of money…

So good! We had two arepas ($4.50-$5 each), the caraqueña and the la spicy tinga! Both arepas were stuffed to the brim, great flavors and filled us up! Also had the maracuya agua fresca (passion fruit juice) and it was great, not too sweet and flavorful! For dessert we had the churros and they were freshly made, hot and delicious!Staff were also very friendly and you can try the different juices.Highly recommend and will come back to try their bowls, burritos and other arepas! The inside is also cute, with lots of seating options.
