If you are Black or African American this is not the place for you. The service was terrible, the food was awful and the people there were just rude and treated us like peasants. We waited 10 mins to get waters and then 7 more minutes for our drinks. We wanted to order food but the kitchen wasn’t open for the first hour of happy hour. We watched the bartender check on EVERYONE at the bar and walk past and ignore us continuously. The patrons were also rude and uncouth they were encroaching on our space the point we had to get there attention and tell them to stop bumping into us. I will never be back and they can keep their little space. Also I was the only black person in there with my white partner.

Look it’s a pub, it’s fun but service is rough.Service: rough, understaffed, sat at the bar and had to grab attention, needed to ask for cutlery, it was a pretty tame Tuesday…2/5Food: great flavor but pricey and it comes with nothing else (bread, fries, etc) however it is DC 4/5Beer: selection is pretty good for draft and can/bottle 5/5 avg 7$ a pintLiquor: light in the selection for standard but had a broad selection of higher quality whiskey and Scotch 4/5

Terrible service. Got my beer at the same time my food came out. Ordered fish & chips, and fish was bad. Took me asking the bartender to get my server to close me out. Heard some other guys leave & cancel their drink order because it never came out. Place wasn’t even busy. Don’t waste your money here.

Stepping into Mattie and Eddie’s feels like entering a cozy corner of Ireland right in the heart of Pentagon City. The moment I walk through the door, I’m greeted by the familiar scent of comfort food and the sound of laughter echoing through the air. What keeps me coming back time and time again isn’t just the mouthwatering dishes, although they’re certainly a highlight. It’s the people – the incredible staff who have turned this pub into my home away from home.Alicia, Colin, Rachel and Grace are more than just bartenders; they’re like family. Each visit, they welcome me with genuine smiles and a warmth that instantly puts me at ease. Whether it’s recommending the perfect beer to pair with my meal or simply sharing a friendly chat, they go above and beyond to make me feel valued and cared for. It’s these personal touches that make Mattie and Eddie’s truly special. In a world where dining out can sometimes feel impersonal, this pub stands out as a beacon of hospitality and friendship. It’s where strangers become friends and every meal feels like a celebration. So here’s to Alicia, Colin, Rachel, and the entire team at Mattie and Eddie’s – thank you for making me feel like part of the family. You’ve created a place where I can always count on good food, great company, and memories that I’ll cherish for a lifetime. Sláinte to the best Irish pub in Pentagon City!

Super helpful and friendly staff, calm and lovely atmosphere, and the Guiness was cold and delicious! The beef stew is 100% worth the price, and I'm thankful we found this place on our trip ?

The best description of this location is “an American sports bar/English pub” wanting to be an Irish pub. Atmosphere is great. However….the staff tends to focus on regulars and not all guests. And also sometimes lets their Guinness & Kilkenny sit for 3-4 minutes before finishing pouring. This location at night feels more like Temple Bar in Dublin than a cozy Irish pub north of the Liffey

Good day, I visited your restaurant at 9:10 PM, hoping for a pleasant dining experience. Initially, things seemed promising when Alberto welcomed us and seated us comfortably, checking if the kitchen was still open. After confirming, he handed us over to Alejandro, who took our orders efficiently—appetizers, including wings, and salmon for our main course. However, the experience soured when dealing with a situation involving the wings. After tasting one that was supposed to be plain but found it bland, I requested to switch it for one with buffalo sauce baked in, as I initially misunderstood the preparation. At 9:32 PM, your manager, Alicia, approached our table. Unfortunately, her demeanor was less than professional, with a dismissive attitude that was evident from her body language and tone. Despite my efforts to explain my misunderstanding and request, Alicia responded sharply, denying any accommodation since I had already tasted the wing. This interaction was in sharp contrast to the welcoming service provided by Alberto and Alejandro. Alicia’s response did not only feel dismissive but also unwelcoming, which overshadowed the entire dining experience. I believe every guest deserves to feel heard and respected, and I hope this feedback can be used to ensure a consistently positive experience for all patrons. Regards, Moe Grace

They should change the name of this place to "I Am Not an Irish Pub"
I'll be honest... this place used to be good until all the new chef rotations or whatever the heck they are trying to do.I came here back in December with my boyfriend and his mom. We got the Reubens and they were phenomenal, so were the fries that came with it. I asked for a pickle spear with mine and they accommodated.Since then, we tried coming back and they have these weird little menus with only a couple options and none of which are even authentic Irish food. They are just random things the chef decides to call a "special." You NEED to bring the Reubens back and whoever made them back in December. Stick to what is good. Stop switching out your menus so much.I do not plan on returning since these changes.
Parking: You will have to pay for street parking or get 1 hour free parking in the parking lots around the area/mall. Weekends free street parking.

I’ll be honest, this restaurant has never really interested me because its standard Irish fare feels overpriced for what it is. However, I came in for their Monday night “I Am a Sandwich” special from 5-9pm, which also happens at the same time as their game night. I ordered the AKA “AJ” Smash Burger. The old bay onions were not to my personal taste and I probably should have asked for them on the side, but the rest of the burger was fantastic! I don’t typically enjoy old bay, so I don’t think I was the target audience. The combination of crab dip, soft bread, crunchy lettuce, and flavorful burger was fantastic. I hope this pop up will stay long enough that I can come back to try another one of the options! My 4 star review reflects the fact that I’ve only had pop up food, so I can’t vouch for the overall quality of regular menu food.
Great fish and chips. Typical bar environment. Service not good at all. People nice, but apparently not enough of them. Expect to wait a LONG time for everything. Bartender did not know how to make a Maker’s Mark Manhattan. Then quizzed me on if I wanted a cherry? Did I want sweet vermouth? Etc. yep, I know what a Manhattan is. And it doesn’t include whiskey! Which is what I got. Deviled eggs are meh. Nothing special. Potato and leek soup mediocre. Fries so wilted it wasn’t funny (well, the wonderful fish was set right on top). So. Many. Sauces to go with the fish. They weren’t labeled, so had no idea what they were. All in plastic containers. Apple pie identical to what you get at McDonald’s. So all in all, I’m surprised this place is still in business!
