We weren't planning to eat here. Instead, we had a reservation for brunch in DC. However, Metro was really screwed up. Long story short---track work and a disabled train at Pentagon City meant a slow ride that got slower when the train stopped at McLean and had to sit there for several minutes. We realized that we wouldn't make our reservation so my husband called the restaurant to cancel. So...we had to come up with Plan B. We got off at Virginia Square where I looked to see what was open. Right across the street, Medium Rare was open. We decided to give them a try. It was too late for brunch so, we had a very early dinner. Having never been to Medium Rare, I knew next to nothing about their menu. We were greeted and seated by a very nice employee. He took us to a two top and asked if it was okay, which it was. He gave us menus. It was then we noticed that the only item on the menu was a fixed price dinner. If I recall correctly, the meal was $28 per person. It comes with bread and butter, a simple mixed green salad and the main course which is coulotte steak, fries and "secret sauce". That was fine for us. To drink I had a "Lavender 75" which our server said had gin, lavender syrup and champagne in it. It turned out to be a good drink---flavorful and not too strong. My husband had a glass of Malbec. Our server was friendly, efficient and very knowledgeable about the menu. We asked her how she would recommend ordering the steak. She said "medium" which we decided to do. The bread came first. It was sliced and soft in the middle with a nice crust. Salad was next. It had a vinaigrette dressing and in addition to the mixed greens, a few sliced cherry tomatoes. This salad was splendid in its simplicity and we both enjoyed it. The main course arrived shortly after we finished our salads. The fries were piping hot and flavorful. As for the steak and "secret sauce" (which was basically a gravy) --- the gravy had good flavor that complimented the meat and the fries. The coulotte steak isn't the most tender cut around but it was sliced thinly and easy to eat. After we finished our main course, we were talking about getting dessert. No sooner did we discuss it but another server came to our table and put more meat, "secret sauce" and fries on our plate! We hadn't realized that everybody gets seconds! So...we ate the meat and a few fries as we still wanted dessert. For my dessert, I chose the hot fudge sundae with vanilla ice cream, while my husband chose the key lime pie. I hadn't had a hot fudge sundae in years! It was very attractively presented with a huge amount of whipped cream topped with a cherry plus since it was Easter, a "peeps" bunny was added. Thankfully, the fudge and the ice cream portions were normal ones. Some candied pearls added a bit of crunch. I enjoyed every bit of that sundae. My husband's key lime pie also came with a huge amount of whipped cream that also had some candied pearls in it. He said it was one of the best key lime pies he's had. Also, he had a cappuccino which he said was well prepared. As a side note --- they do a brunch on the weekends that has a larger menu. All in all, we enjoyed our meal and were pleased with the service. We both used the bathroom where, instead of piped in music, there are piped in French lessons. They were amusing as they were teaching how to ask someone out on a date :) Would we go again? We both say "yes".

Very good experience, food and staff was excellent. We were walk-ins but it is recommended to get a reservation. It was quite full, busy place.

Loved everything about this place. The service is top notch. Our server, Daniel, was amazing and so were the manager, Paul, and the bartender, Nathan. Shoutout to Paul who was super attentive and didn’t miss a beat. The food came out quick and was delicious. The hibiscus margaritas were perfect! Would definitely come back next time we are in Arlington.

The waitress was A great lady from Guatemala - super friendly and nice. Food is ok, price for a steak in DC was pretty fair (good value for money). Apple pie was good.

I took my friend there for his birthday. Service was slow despite the restaurant not being very busy. I have also been here previously and given multiple plates of food. For all of us, we had one plate with small portions, and we were not given more than that one small portion. The food was good, but our waiter rarely checked on us. One of the people in my party of 5 ordered a specialty cocktail. When we hadn't received it in approximately 20 minutes, our waiter finally came over - when we asked about the status of the drink, he said it was never ordered (which was not true, and we showed him where on the table he had written that it had, in fact, been ordered).

Used to love this place, got delivery a lot during Covid. Hadn’t had delivery in a while. Tonight, most of my salad was brown, bread was small and stale, and meat was chewy! What a disappointment and waste of money!!

Solid restaurant for a night out. There's only one meal on the menu and you get bread, salad, steak and fries. At first we didn't think it was enough food but then the waitresses unexpectedly brought out a second round. I wish they had told us that was happening before. It was odd and I wish they had just brought everything out at once. The food was pretty good but honestly not exceptional enough for it to be the only thing on the menu. Great service. The tables were very close together with not a lot of room to move around. Outdoor seating was also available

I never review but had to give them 5 stars! After I thought we were done, they offered us each a second serving of steak and fries, free of charge! This seemed to be the case for all tables. They also brought us a complimentary celebratory ice cream since our reservation stated the occasion was my husbands birthday. THEN, they brought us bazooka gum with the check! Also the food was great.

We had a reservation for 7 for a groups of 10. We weren’t allowed to be seated until the whole group arrived, which normally I wouldn’t mind but there isn’t much room to stand. We ended up not being seated until 7:30/7:40 which I think was because they were trying to clear tables as our group had arrived. The service was mediocre as was the food. I asked for medium rare but received well done. They did fix this for me quickly. The salad is just greens and 3 pieces of a singular cherry tomato. Steak was something comparable to flank steak. You do get two helpings of steak during your meal. I also tried the hibiscus margarita which was pretty good. Their special secret sauce was delicious. Overall, the meal wasn’t bad but I think they advertise as high end when the meal is just mediocre. I think the price of $54 for the meal and one drink was highly for the quality of food received. $12 for a dessert also stiff in my opinion. I also think it is absurd to charge a vegetarian the same price for a portobello mushroom as the price for the mushroom is not comparable to steak. Wouldn’t be my first choice at returning but wasn’t bad either.Vegetarian options: Portobello mushroom - same price as steakParking: Close to VA square metro
