The Hood

Well “The Hood” is out and about as Spring is getting officially closer. Had lunch here and it was ok. Good bar atmosphere loud and exciting. Food: good had a la Cubana (possible spelling error). The gang with me had various food. Sorry for no pictures the hood was hungry. Service: good people checking on you as you go. We apparently threw the server off when she asked at the end if it was separate checks and we said yes. She had some difficulty with it 1/2 hr later she finally got the bills right. Atmosphere: if you like the bar type scene a great place to go. Well as the weather gets better The Hood will be out and about again. I’m not here to judge just looking for great food awesome service and a great atmosphere. Remember to be good to each other because you never know when The Hood will be in. Be kind to each other and keep adventuring!

Have been here 3-4 times now and I have had nothing but great experiences. The food is fresh and very good while the staff have all been extremely friendly. I highly recommend if you’re in the area and want a solid meal.

Everything here is excellent and some are incredible. The steak salad, for example, it’s the absolute best. The chili, wedge salad, fish & chips are at their best. Nothing contributed or frou-frou, just so damn good. The beers and cider on tap are so top quality. The noise level is fine, the booths are comfy, the atmosphere fun yet chill. We’ve been coming here since it opened in the 1990s, and we’ll keep coming back!

The environment is kind of loud for my liking. I couldn't really hear my conversations over the music. I ordered French Toast with turkey sausage links and a side of eggs with pepper jack cheese. My eggs came out first. I found this odd because usually food is brought out together, but I was happy to have my eggs because I was starving. They were beautifully seasoned and cheese was perfect. The French Toast and links came out about 5 minutes or so later. I ate the first link. It was burnt and not very flavorful. The second link had hair on it. I thought it was remnants of cheese, but I didn't have any cheese on my plate. I didn't even bother with the third link. I dug into the French Toast. It was horrible, but I tried to eat it because I was starving. Each bite was a gag in itself....and then it got worse when I found the longest piece of hair on one of my French Toast slices. That was a wrap for me. My server apologized and the manager did too, but I take it with a grain of salt because the pandemic has shown us sanitation is of the utmost importance and here I am with two different food items with hair in it. They offered to remake it, but I was so disappointed and disgusted, I chose to have it taken off my bill and left. The eggs were good, but not enough to make me return. My server was nice, but not enough to make me return. The multiple hairs I found is unsanitary and I can feel a piece of hair sliding down my throat. So I guess I ate a strand. I have been trying to drink water, but I can still feel it sliding down my throat. I'm new here and was looking for a food spot. This is not the place for me.

Fun bar and restaurant. The night I visited there were some musical acts that I enjoyed very much. Had an enjoyable evening.

This is an unpretentious but authentic Bar, the food is quite good and the portions are large, you will not leave hungry. I recommend the hazzy like a fox IPA, the nachos and the burger. The service is good and fast. Thank you for your attention during the time I lived in Virginia, it was my favorite bar ♥️

First time here and was impressed. Food was really good - my husband and I shared the crab and artichoke dip and both loved it. He had a burger (huge and great) and I had the chicken pot pie. If a restaurant has chicken pot pie, I try it and am often disappointed. Not this time! It was one of the best I've had, nice chicken portions, flaky crust, and full of flavor. The ambiance was fun, with live music (good band who listened when folks said it was a bit loud and turned the sound down). Lots of people who seemed to be regulars. The one point lacking (and why it's a four star and not five) was the service. It was on the slow side and the server didn't seem to want to be there. Despite that, we'd definitely go back.
