They use recycled fish soup stock. I ordered a piece of boiled beef today and found a small piece of fish in it. Apparently the leftovers from the previous bowl were reused.

During our recent visit to our son in Falls Church, VA, my wife and I had the pleasure of dining at TNR Cafe, a Chinese restaurant recommended by our son. He often frequents this establishment, so we decided to try it out. We ordered a few dishes for takeout, and we were blown away by the incredible flavors and perfect cooking. The Vegetable Spring Rolls were light and crispy, the Taiwanese-style Rice Noodles were delicious, and the Sauteed Lo Mein with Vegetables was flavorful and satisfying. The Kung Pao Chicken and Sweet & Sour Chicken were also standouts, with tender and succulent meat in both dishes. Overall, we had a fantastic dining experience and highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great meal in Arlington, VA.

We ordered take out at the register and our food was ready super fast. Service was very friendly and kind. We ordered spring rolls, hot and sour soup, TNR chicken fried rice, and kung pao chicken. We loved everything - wasn’t greasy either. The inside of the restaurant was well lit and decorated. We’ll definitely be back.

Great food and atmosphere!! Service was a tad slow but nothing I would be concerned about. Orange chicken was great and the egg drop soup was excellent.

Really impressed with this place! The staff is really nice and the decor makes for a really nice environment. The food though was EXCELLENT, the General Tso's was the best I've had, sweet with just a little kick. The hot and sour soup was so good, and really thick, with a huge portion!I asked our waiter Alex what his favorite pork dish was, and wow did he deliver. I wish I got the name of it, but it was incredible!!The portions are generous here and you'll leave very happy with your meal, I really recommend giving this spot a try!

Love their expansion and new decor; more inviting! The TNR used to be a small nearly "hole in the wall" kind of place. There is now a piano and lots of lanterns. Extensive menu with some highlights such as the Taiwanese style beef noodle. Would love to dine in at some point soon. Mostly for now I've only done take out but they are efficient.

I've had my eye on trying TNR Cafe for a while now, and finally had the chance to get takeout a few nights ago. It was overall a mediocre experience, but I know that is mostly the case because I went on Chinese New Year. I called in the order on the phone, but whoever answered said that she couldn't hear me and to call back. She was rude and rushed. So I went online to ChowNow to order what I wanted as I was too annoyed to call back. I went to the restaurant around 7pm and saw patron after patron come in to be turned away, as well as phone orders, because the kitchen was too overwhelmed. The hostess was also overwhelmed as was the wait staff. I could tell that it was really stressful so I patiently waited for when my order finally came, it was nearly 10-15 mins late. There were so many of us waiting on our takeout orders that we were crowding the front desk area. At least it gave me time to take in the beautiful decorations. Finally someone comes from the kitchen and almost slams down a bunch of takeout orders on a table near the front. The hostess or relieved and starts passing out their orders and people leave, including me. I vowed to never get a hankering again for Chinese food on Chinese New Year, or at least if I do, it should be earlier in the day when restaurants aren't so busy! The food was just ok. I was really excited about the fish filet in Szechuan sauce, spicy cabbage, veggie egg rolls, and almond milk tea with bubbles. The fish had so much oil, like pools of oil in the dish, and it was really salty which was too bad. I didn't like the spicy cabbage at all as it was really bland and a bit soggy. The egg rolls and milk tea were tasty. Overall I'd give this place another try and expect for a better experience when it wasn't Chinese New Year.

We've dined at TNR twice now and it has become my favorite option for Chinese food in the immediate Arlington/Alexandria area. The food is best described as American Chinese in style, but there are more plentiful choices than one would usually expect to see. And by that, I don't mean a menu which has 300 different entries, 80% of which overlap with minimal individuality...it's just a really diverse menu with a lot of great selections. Plentiful vegetarian dishes and also gluten free choices as well. We've had the crispy shredded chicken (fantastic! lightly breaded and full of hot tangy flavor), pineapple fried rice, sizzling shrimp and scallops (just the right balance of spice and savor), and salt and pepper shrimp. Full bar with excellent deals on happy hour drinks, a surprisingly robust selection of bourbons (all very reasonably priced), and house cocktails. Service is attentive without being intrusive and the staff is warm and welcoming. Ambiance best described as casual with elegant touches. I can't wait to dive deeper into the menu!

Main dishes were super salty; egg rolls were not even cooked inside. Went to restroom but soap was missing? It was the last time we ate there.

This is a good spot for a bite to eat. I've had some hit and miss meals, but we keep coming back as it still a great place. The atmosphere is great, and the service is spot on.
