Extremely creative menu, very well executed and well thought chef specials. But prices are on high end side and for this price I would prefer to see more exotic fishes. Like Kampachi or squi etc. Too much avocado in every roll instead of dome quirky fish varieties. Also vibe was like modern bar and you can't concentrate on the complexity of flavors.
This place is very good! Not your traditional sushi spot, but delicious. And its got a great vibe. Parking is a pain, no fault of Yume.
A truly wonderful Omakase experience!! Every course was a marvel in its own right, collectively creating a one of a kind experience!
Sat at the sushi bar, so had dinner and a show. The show was good, the dinner was great. Yume is in an interesting space, open with lots of windows, a high ceiling, and very high energy, read LOUD. This is not your sedate, high-end, reverent sushi restaurant, but a vibrant lively place, which doesn't mean the sushi is in any way inferior. Even at the sushi bar the ordering is through a waitress/waiter not directly with the sushi chefs. That was a slight disappointment, having no interaction with the chefs, but perhaps to be expected with the size of the crowd that was there on Friday night. We ordered in stages because, this being the first time, we did not know how much would be enough. In the end what we ordered was just right. The service was paced just right, never rushed but available when needed. The baby octopus salad was bright and citrusy, and slightly chewy, in a good way. The simple nigiri in the Sushi Dinner, 10 pieces, were very fresh and tasty. The special nigiri we had, Otoro, was imaginative and excellent - wasabi and truffle make a great pairing and the bit of caviar was just the right touch. The Yume roll was top flight, spicy but, to coin a phrase, not too spicy, and the fish did shine through. We will definitely be going back.
As always, fantastic sushi and other options. Very pricey for your typical sushi place but that's because this place is definitely not typical. Top notch options. The Butter Scallop on sushi is just OUTSTANDING. Staff is also super nice.
Hands down the best sushi in Virginia!!! Order from their special menu and you won't regret it.
AMAZING!!!!!!The tuna carving buffet was Outstanding! Come hungry and It's a great deal. Even if you only had one of each item on the menu I think it's fair price. The only problem with it is how far away it is from our house.
This was the first bottomless brunch experience so there are a lot of kinks to work out. Great concept, but very poor execution. There was no expectation given so we were told to show up for 12, but then told the first half hour is “social hour.” It took 45 minutes for them to bring out water. There were way too many people moving around a small space trying to observe the tuna carving, taste the truffle and caviar, and sake samples. They took our orders an hour in and we chose the option of choosing to get one of everything offered on the menu. The first 2-3 dishes took 10-15 minutes to come out, but after that, it slowed down drastically. We observed that the servers were confused about what the table numbers were and kept trying to give us wrong dishes. There were many times when we were sitting there for 25-30 minutes without food. There were a couple teenage boys who sat a few seats away from us who were ordering a couple dishes at a time and they got their food pretty quickly so it was frustrating to watch them get their dishes before us while we were still waiting. We put in a drink order and that was prepared by the bartender pretty quickly, but it sat there for another 15 minutes before we could get a server to give it to us. We were sitting at the sushi bar, so we had a front row seat to the chefs preparing the food in front of us but we had no idea where the food was going since whenever we looked around, it never looked like anyone had food in front of them. Some thoughts on food: Their chawanmushi was basically just a cold egg custard with some diced tuna and plumcot on top. Their Japanese sandwich was sitting out for awhile when they finally served it to us, & the rice crackers were stale and rice was chewy. The individual tuna slices were pretty good, although the servers confused us as to what we were eating when they called it the wrong name when giving it to us. The whole experience felt like a hot mess. Not sure we will go back anytime soon.
Went for restaurant week which was a great value, but each course took 30 min to come out, even for 1 roll or 4 pieces of nigiri. We waited 30 min for a scoop of ice cream to come out....
We only go for the Omakase "Chef's tasting". But I've had their rolls in the past and are top notch. Chef Peter Saran and his team make excellent sashimi dishes that just melts in your mouth. I've been following Peter since he started out in Del Ray. You will not be disappointed.

I was so pleasantly surprised! I've been eating in this area for years, but I hadn't visited Yume yet. The food is incredibly well designed, and the flavors are beautiful. Get the tuna tartare, scallops, and the Peter roll! The cocktails are very beautiful, and I recommend you end with a bird's nest in your favorite flavor - mine were black sesame and honey ginger!
Incredible simple perfect preparation, not complicated Will go back very soon . When I go there I feel like I am in the Buddha bar in Paris .

I’ve finally found my favorite sushi spot in the DMV. The food and service are excellent. It’s a bit of a hidden gem, a low-key spot that feels more like a neighborhood restaurant than a high-end establishment.
