I tried the malgudi dinner thali which i got it delivered. Perfect quantity, good quality with excellent taste and well packed except that they put the papad in the roti box which made it soggy. I did try their thaali like 6months back which was good too but i felt the recent one was more good in all ways.
Buffet style food with a mix of south./North Indian on weekends and really high quality of food, taste is excellent.. they had close to 40 items on buffet menu with coffee and tea included. BONUS: they have a party shop, I tried Rasmalai cake and jamun cake (yes desi style Pastry) it was too yummy.. I highly recommend the place just for the vibes and food ..
We went to Malgudi for dinner on Friday. Not going again... Disappointed in service and food. We dined in and opted to order instead of buffet. The waitress didn't come by once after the order was placed to check on us except delivering the food. We were done eating and one of my son's food never came. When we asked, the waitress couldn't be found, but the guy behind the counter - he said, it's coming. He saw the chef making it. Waited for a few but then just said cancel that order since we're all done eating and tight on time. His food never came and if the chef was making it then they should have asked to pack it for us. Poor service which is fine as I know restaurants are tight on staff but the food was even mediocre, if that... Just blah. Very disappointed. I was hoping it was a success given its proximity to home.
Prices are expensive for vegetarian food. The curries are not made with fresh vegetables, mostly frozen vegetables. Portions are small, spring rolls are very small and served with ketchup (what is this?). Service is very slow, it can be improved. The mens' bathroom is dirty, sink is dirty, no wipe your hands. Normally if an establishment has a dirty bathrooms, it says a lot about the rest of the facility.
Wow - what an experienceLet”s start from my first call - my son was getting married in Washington DC and we were looking for catering options for 3 secondary meals (Wedding was being catered by another restaurant)My first 3 calls to Malgudi Veg resulted in me seriously considering other options. They would take messages and then no call backsWhen I finally connected with Shiva - the manager - he was easy to talk to and explained that they were very busy. We requested pricing for 3 meals and got that almost immediatelyIn the end we had to cancel 1 meal due to personal circumstancesThe food that we got was prepared as requested, tasty and on time - and our guests loved it. When we went to make the final payment- my feet were extremely tired from the long wedding week - Shiva totally surprised me by bringing out a foot massager for me - incredibly thoughtful and unexpectedLove it and highly recommend it
Went to Malgudi.. good restaurant with friendly staff.. nice ambience. The food was also tasty. We loved the gun powder idli . We had ordered Chinese and was very delicious. Their pastry was also very delicious and appetizing. Overall a very nice and pleasant meal experience. Would definitely love to visit to try their other dishes.
I was so excited to finally try Malgudi. My order was submitted at 6:11 PM, and I arrived around 6:30 PM. Online ordering allows you to select a time, so I assumed that meant 6:30 was reasonable.I was informed upon arrival that they were working on the order. I asked about the order at 6:40. I was informed at 6:52 that the Veg Tandoori was the hold up and everything else was ready. I asked for a refund at 7:00 and was told, again, that it was just one menu item and everything is made to order. I reminded them that I ordered at 6:11 PM, and the gentleman first went to check the order but then went straight back to the kitchen. Food came out, no apology or explanation. I walked out the door at 7:03 PM.I was the only customer in the restaurant for the last 15 - 20 minutes that I was waiting. The fries are ice cold. The dal is cold. The tandoori is a small appetizer and was the only hot item, of course. The flavor of the food was actually good, which is why I am offering 2 stars. But, I will not be back nor will my family members.
Not all dishes are vegetarian, some contains egg and I'm very disappointed as I found out after eating. The answer I got is you have to ask before eating for each dish as it could contain egg. A big no no for me. Veg means no meat no egg Period. Better serve what your name conveys don't cheat people in the name of veg as for many people Veg means Satvik food and they specifically look for sane veg places.
We ordered lunch taali for take out. Nothing tasted good except papas and pickle. There was no enough spice and there was more sweetness in all the food that we tasted. It was good before covid but not anymore. Sorry for the bad review!
Lunch Buffet is $17.99 on Friday. Website says $11.99. The Chinese night on Wednesday night was good. Food was a bit spicy, some dishes too much, though I like spicy food. There is too much plastic usage, disposable spoons, water bottles - started for CoVID but continues now.

Amazing authentic Indian flavors. We have ordered probably 3 times by now and every time it just tastes amazing. I’m glad they are keeping up the quality. It’s a must try restaurant!
Visit this place for good south Indian vegetarian food. Try the Dosas and other rice items which are great (avoid the idly). The kids love the Chocolate dosa and try the nimbu pani. The Thali is filling and our family loves the unique taste in the flavor. The service is where this restaurant can use some improvement. It takes a while to get your order especially when the restaurant is backlogged with online orders but if you can handle the wait, the food is worth it.
Great place for Indian food especially if you're looking for vegetarian options. Service is great and prices are reasonable. I like their dosa as well.
It was one of the most horrible food and service. The charge 18$ for lunch and it was all dry and cold. The items didn’t have labels and they don’t even provide plates but use paper plates which is not environment friendly.Go anywhere but not this placeEdit and update: dear owner, if you told me before I started that buffet was being closed I would have not ordered. No one told me. I waited 20 min to pay the bill . It is unacceptable and blaming the consumer is not going to resolve it .
We went with our friends for the buffet on Sunday and got to say the food was just amazing. People there were very friendly and happy to help in anyway possible. For vegetarians like us without having to check for the items every time is a dream. As they serve only Vegetarian food no worries of cross contamination or lack of options. Will recommend this place in a heartbeat.Only ask would be bring back the Thalappakatti Veg Biriyani.Good Luck and Keep up the taste & Service
