Among the delightful profusion of Ethiopian restaurants in the Metropolitan area, this one stands out like a gem! This place was not easy to find even once I found the correct address using another service (I assume my edit has fixed the error) because the store front is actually in a pedestrian zone while the actual address is the back door which has no sign or indication of being occupied. It must be newly opened as they seem to be still finishing up the final touches to the dining room. But Elfign stands out for other reasons. Because of the exceptionally Ethiopian-style hospitality & friendliness, and of course because of the uniquely authentic & distinct flavor and aroma of the food, all of which is perfectly seasoned & balanced. The shiro (classic Ethiopian comfort food-a sauce of powdered legumes, spices & aromatics) is the best I've had in the area! I have been on a quest to find the Ethiopian restaurant with best shiro. The chef creates & blends her own spice mixtures using some of the less common ingredients neglected by other restaurants which gives the food at Elfign it's unique and distinctive flavor. I will be back for a follow-up visit soon!
