I personally love the Peaks, always have always will. I keep seeing reviews about the place being “unsanitary, or having bed bugs, or even terrible food and hospitality” when’s it’s always been quite the opposite for my husband and I. It has always been the best atmosphere to get away and enjoy nature and peace and quiet. And this trip was no different! The whole experience from check in - to check out was fantastic. A younger blonde lady with glasses, I believe her name was Michaela , at the front desk was extremely helpful and understanding when my husband and I wanted to switch rooms to have a balcony. My husband and I enjoyed the breakfast buffet choices and our wonderful server Reva who was the sweetest thing ever! We had the ribeye steak and pulled bbq plate for dinner and were so pleased with the quality of the food. Everything seemed fresh and cooked to perfection. If you ask me the people who are leaving bad reviews are just Karen’s with not much else to do. Definitely book a getaway to the peaks if you haven’t before. The views and the memories are one me and my husband will never forget and are ones you deserve to have too!
Horrifying Stay – Bed Bugs and Fleas Everywhere! Our room was infested with bed bugs AND fleas – an absolute health hazard. For your own health and safety, avoid this hotel at all costs.
Stayed for our anniversary. Rooms are cozy and quaint. Food and service is outstanding - highly recommend the steak and trout.
My husband and I had a reservation for 1 night-this past Sunday. When we checked in at 3:00 I spoke with the person at the restaurant desk. I knew they didn’t take reservations, but was told by 6:00 they should have no problem seating us. WRONG! We returned at 6 to see a mostly empty dining room but lots of people waiting for a table! Very apparent there was not enough help! Then the hostess shared that they were running out of food! We went to the bar and found the only bright spot in our short stay! The bartender was trying her best to keep up with a packed lounge full of hungry people and never lost her composure or kind attitude! Wish I had gotten her name! When we were told they had, indeed, run out of food, I went to the desk and said we were leaving and expected to be refunded our money! They agreed and realized they had a huge problem so there was no discussion and it was refunded in 24 hours! So saddened to see what has happened to a place we have visited many times over the years-this was our last visit!:(
We had a horrible experience here. We thought this would be a special Mother’s Day treat for the family. Instead half the menu was “sold out” and once they brought the food it was cold, bland, the buns for our sandwiches were disintegrating like they’d been sitting there. All items on the kids menu were sold out. The manager gave us a hefty discount but honestly it still wasn’t enough as we sent over half our plates back and didn’t eat anything on them. Sadly i see this place going out of business soon unless something changes. Pictured is the Cobb salad they served my mom 🤮
Great place to enjoy a meal with family!
AVOID AT ALL COSTS FOR EVENTS! I was a member of a wedding party this weekend. It started out ok. The rehearsal dinner was amazing. The cook was great and the food was good. The venue was attentive. Day 2... Not so much. Supposedly there was a venue coordinator. Was there? Honestly no one knows because there did not appear to be any coordination. The room for the groomsmen is connected to a hallway in a high traffic area. There are shades over the windows in the doors (that do not completely cover the windows) and no signs explaining that it is a private event. Quite a few people got an eye full... Also, no food or beverage (alcoholic or not) is allowed in. They WILL make sure to let you know and recommend you purchase overpriced drinks from the restaurant upstairs. Skipping ahead to the reception, this is where it went straight to crap. Dinner was supposed to be served at 5:30pm as confirmed by the venue today. A display of fruits, cheeses, and crackers was provided for a cocktail hour for guests while the wedding party took photos. One of the servers was moving a table and broke some plates. Hey it happens, no big deal. What is a big deal is when one of the wedding party hears the manager say it was because of the camera person ... who was on the other side of the room and VIDEOED the plates falling from the table. Next, at 5:50pm (ish), the party asked where the dinner was. We were informed that the restaurant portion of the venue way "backed up" and it would be AT LEAST an hour before we started to receive food. (A sign at the entrance denoted that the dining room for the restaurant did not even open until 5:30pm.) Guests left before food arrived because their blood sugar was dropping. THE BRIDE had to have something brought to her because hers was dropping. Fortunately, and magically, the venue was able to bring in the ordered food "as it became ready". In the midst of this, a special meal had been ordered because of an allergy. It never showed up. This is all on top of an EXTREMELY rude bar tender (one was horrid, the other was awesome). Given that they said they were backed up and couldn't make our food, one would think it was hot food, but alas what was served (and ordered) was cold food. What was brought out had been made for long enough at least to have been saran wrapped. To emphasize how poor the planning was for this, this lodge is on the Blue Ridge Parkway, in the mountain, IN THE FALL when business is at it's highest. They knew this event was coming for MONTHS. They had time to plan and up staff. Being understaffed, as they claimed, is not acceptable. To top off the evening, when the bride & groom attempted to check into the room that was INCLUDED in the package... it had been rented out. Supposedly, no one ever booked it. It was never explained that it had to be booked separately. The hotel was sold out except for one room with two double beds. The manager attempted to get them to accept this ("We can just push the beds together"). Obviously this was not acceptable. After much urging, this small portion of the ~$6000 package was refunded. After understanding how extremely infuriated the entire party was, the manager did call to the next closest hotel and paid for the room for the couple for the night. This was appreciated, but unfortunately it was far too little far too late. The venue itself is absolutely beautiful, but the beauty doesn't save the poor service.
UPDATE: The manager had the NERVE to tell the bride ON HER WEDDING NIGHT "I know you're new to this wedding thing but you'll appreciate sleeping in a separate bed from your husband." Also, the cake maker that was used informed us that the staff were rude to her when delivering the cake. This includes complaining that she closed the door between the private room and the bar because the bar patrons were coming in and TAKING the wedding cupcakes. I would like to reiterate AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

The scenery is absolutely beautiful, but management is a joke, and I have never met a slower or more rude bar tend staff.
I was polite, patient, kind, please thank you..... waited 35 minutes to order a single bottle of beer. I was met with fierce dirty looks and constantly being overlooked while being next in the long long line. Thats just my experience. The rest of our group had much worse experiences with pretty much every other point of the staff.

Absolutely do not recommend this establishment for any kind of event. My friends booked their wedding here 10 months in advance. On the day of the wedding, there was no event coordinator as stated in the package, food was an hour and a half late according to the schedule with no communication until someone spoke to the manager, and to top it off the lodge was overbooked so the room that was supposed to be included in the wedding package wasn't available for the bride and groom.
If you're looking for a good place to book your wedding I would highly suggest looking elsewhere. Yes the scenery is beautiful but the service is absolutely awful

The only good thing about this lodge was the view. This was supposed to be a beautiful fairytale wedding for my best friends. It was not that. The wedding was not in any way protected from the rest of the lodge visitors, there were strangers walking into the reception and the readying rooms. They prioritized the restaurant customers over the event, resulting in the wedding not getting any food until over a hour after it was quoted. The staff was all rude to us EXCEPT Monica the Banquet Leader and the male Bartender. The female bartender was absolutely dreadful, rude, and slow. Then they didn't have the honeymoon suite, or a single Kind size bed for the couple because they forgot to block it.
Noteworthy details: Only 1 bathroom, no signage keeping strangers away.

Gorgeous setting! Rooms are older style, but who cares with that view. They have all the basics. Great jumping off point for hiking or driving the Parkway. I prefer the second floor so nobody is walking by the room or making noise above me. Nice balconies.

Look, this is not a 4-star luxury hotel. You don't come here for contemporary furnished room or modern conveniences. You're not in the big city or an over-developed suburb. It's off the Blue Ridge Parkway which offers plenty of hiking, scenic driving, small-town visits, etc. We were in our room simply to rest and sleep. The bed was comfortable and you can tell there's been some recent upgrades in our bathroom. New tub and a nice, powerful shower which is a priority. All the units have a backdoor with seating on your porch or balcony overlooking a lake and mountains. It's beautiful and relaxing especially with a good book and a better wine. Stop complaining about the TV reception and the poor Internet connection. Take a walk instead. Lower your expectations for the restaurant, too, though we found breakfast and dinner more than sufficient. We were there right after Labor Day but well before the leaves change, so the hotel was not too busy. Still, there were two waitresses ready to greet customers immediately. And the view is fantastic. We've been here twice and really enjoy the quietness and the natural beauty.
