Firmly tex-mex, but that's okay! As a Texan who's had both extremely authentic, and very much Americanised mexican food, it definitely reminded me of home. Not super authentic, but comforting nonetheless.

El Bruto. Everything was well below expectations. Chips were warm and fresh, but unsalted. "Salsa" was dollar store taco sauce. Frozen margarita was flavorless. Enchilada sauce tasted like watered down chicken gravy. Just awful in all aspects. Avoid.

So, I have visited this restaurant twice in the past two months, and both times the service was very polite and friendly. Unfortunately, the food did not sit well with me after either visit. The first time I just thought it was me. I figured maybe it was a snack after dinner that messed up my stomach. Welp, after last night's visit once again my gut was left churning all through the night. I am not sure why, but for some reason my body doesn't get along with the food they offer. And I am not known to have acid reflux or anything of the sort. Now, that said, the food tasted just fine, and I am in no wise trying to deter folk from stopping in. Like I said, the folk are super nice, and the dishes I had were good. My only other challenge with this establishment is the pricing. As a single guy I shouldn't be spending more than $15 for a few tacos and a quesadilla, but the total is $18. That's just a wee bit pricey for the quantity.

We went for an early dinner on Saturday. I had the enchilada combo. It is a very authentic Mexican restaurant. The service was excellent and our food came our fast. Very delicious. Next time I'm back at VA Tech,I will definitely go back.

El Mariachi is my new favorite Mexican restaurant in the New River Valley. Service is very fast and friendly, the food tastes great, serving sizes are large, and the prices are low. I enjoyed the shrimp fajitas and my boys loved the taco salad. They even serve lunch specials on the weekend! My family and I will definitely be back.
