If you’re paying $35 for a turkey dinner the green beans shouldn’t be out of a can. The broccoli was yellow around the edges and cold. Definitely not fine dining by any stretch. Staff was very nice but very hurried and a little chaotic.

The food was good. The service was friendly but slow and a little inattentive. We got our appetizers before our drinks. Not a huge deal but we had to ask about our drinks. The bathrooms were gross with mold in the toilets, they clearly hadn't been cleaned in sometime.

Love this restaurant, staff if very friendly, but I've noticed like many restaurants in this area they having staffing issues, but they work overtime to make sure you have a good experience

The oysters were excellent and others seemed to enjoy their food but my fish with pasta was inedible - so tough, I couldn't cut it and bland pasta underneath. I should have sent it back, but wasn't in the mood to spoil the mood. The restaurant was quiet and the staff was absolutely lovely so I'm sure they would have corrected the problem if I'd mentioned it.

I am not even sure where to begin.... Everything about tonight was subpar. The drinks were lousy, my snapper was horrible, my daughter's filet was a crappy cut of meat. I will say there was one redeeming item- my husband got the duck entree and that was delicious. The service was terrible- drinks were late to the table, my daughter is allergic to tree nuts and specifically asked for the caprese salad without pesto- he served it with it. When I told the waiter how horrible my dinner was, he didn't even offer to get the manager (he did offer a free dessert but by that time I was done). The worst part was the price of the meal - very expensive for the meal we were served.

Unfortunately, this was very disappointing. It took a while to be seated, even though we had a reservation -in spite of there being many empty tables. there was no one even at the hostess stand and it seemed like the busboy was seating people They seemed to only have two employees, one bus boy, and one other person. Don't know if she was an owner or an employee, both were very nice however, it just wasn't enough. lots of dirty tables -not enough staff to clean them. Our food was delivered yet we didn't even have silverware and napkins. lights way too bright -felt like it was last call at a bar where they wanted you to leave. Salmon was overcooked risotto was delicious however. Spinach artichoke dip not hreat and the chips were so greasy. It seemed like they were deep fried three times. Tuna appetizer was very good. While there were some good food points, the overall experience was not good and I could not recommend.

It would appear that there are new hires working without quite enough training in this restaurant. As we approached the entrance to the Black Hen, there was a billboard outside saying that if you purchase two entrees, you get an appetizer for free. As soon as we sat down, we asked our server about that, and she said oh it's over now. (so why was the Billboard still out there?) She then agreed to give us the appetizer. We ordered the deep fried cauliflower. When it came, because it was deep fried, and we hadn't seen what it was supposed to look like, we all ate one. I kind of thought it tasted a bit fishy, but didn't think more about it. Until the server informed us we accidentally got the oyster appetizer (which specifically was excluded from the 'special') by the way. Good thing no one was allergic to oysters! We then got the cauliflower, which was fine.. but still it felt odd. My companion ordered the lamb chops, and was correctly asked how she wanted them cooked. She answered Medium Rare. I then ordered the salmon, which I specifically said I wanted medium rare (although I wasn't actually asked how I wanted it cooked). The lamb came correctly cooked, however my salmon was definitely NOT medium rare or even medium. Disappointed.. and not impressed.

Despite our reservation through open table and including a note that this was a family celebration for my brother's birthday, the restaurant clearly never reviewed that.Information. We ordered wine then our mains. Three of the four orders were filled but after 45 minutes and repeated inquiries of our server, we asked that the order be cancelled. The three of us who did get food shared our food with my brother. It was not the celebration we planned. The food was ok but not great. Then I asked for the check and gave the server my card. After 15 minutes, I went back to see what was wrong. The check was ready, for the full price including the food that was never delivered to our table and the wine we were told was to be comped since it was so late. I explained that the check was wrong and I would not pay the full amount. The manager stated that the order was “sent back” which was not true. After pointing that out, the manager said for us to “just leave” so we did. He went on to later charge my card for $113.52, for what I do not know. A disastrous evening

Cozy and intimate dining spot. The food and drinks were good my husband got the lamb chops and I got the berry salad. The shrimp on my salad was excellent. Our server was great. Overall we enjoyed our experience very much.

1) wonderful ambiance if you want to relax, Chopin in the background 2) we appreciate the reach for the stars but the sweet potato next to the duck is too sweet, the duck was tough, the lamb was overdone. We ate it so as to not waste food. The cocktails were not filled to the top of the glass. Where we're from, that is not good. 3) waitress was lovely

Food was okay but very bland. Server was really nice but food took a really long time which was surprising considering there were only 4 other tables occupied other than us. Going by the reviews, we were expecting a lot more so maybe our expectations were just too high.

Great spot for a meal on a work trip. The service was fantastic despite the restaurant only having one server at the time I ate there and a large early dinner party to serve. I ended up eating near the bar instead of outside to make it easier for him, and he was super personable and attentive. Drink was fantastic and the salmon was awesome.

Camille was an outstanding waitress. She was knowledgeable about the food and drink menu. We celebrated our daughter's graduation from VT and she made our night extra special.
