I had rat shit in my food.
Also last time I went to a show. It smelled like someone shit their pants. Grungy and digstuing even for dive bar standards.

Not just the coolest bar and nightclub in Blacksburg, it's the ONLY cool bar and nightclub in Blacksburg.
No one else is hosting any live music in town (yeah, OK the Lyric, but it's once every other month) and they are booking great regional talent. For instance, last Saturday featured a ten-band metal showcase starting at 3pm followed by a rave.
Beyond that, the space is big and dark so you don't have to worry about elbow room unless there is an event, the TVs aren't constantly set on ESPN, the people are friendly and service is fast.
The Milk Parlor and a couple other stores on the same block are some of the final holdouts of the Ye Olde Blacksburg. So if your cool Brooklyn friends are in town, bring them here so they don't think you've gone to college in a Virtual Northern Virginia populated by meatheads and squares, and that in ten years you'll wind up assistant manager of some sad hotel in a town even less cool than Blacksburg.
The food is great. To properly address the limitations of their menu would require a paragraph about Virginia's stupid alcohol and kitchen regulations.

Went there for a couple shows and it was a lot of fun. They haven't had shows since May and it's pretty disappointing considering this is the coolest venue in blacksburg and the music scene was pretty diverse. If you pay attention all the good reviews are older.

Honestly I have tried to love this place. It’s great for drag shows but the service and people working there are absolutely horrible every time. This is just one example but last time I was there- my friends and I got there early. They served all of my friends who didn’t pay a cover but when I got up to the bar it a just slightly more busy and the bartenders told me I had to pay a cover to get a drink. I had just seen them serve ALL of my friends who did not pay a cover. So, suddenly, the 10 more people in the teeny tiny bar meant they couldn’t check my identification!?! Also, just prior to them being so rude to me I watched the rude bartenders deny a girl with a VERY valid NJ identification. I lived in New Jersey for 24 years. I just changed my address to Blacksburg in the last year (yet I have lived/studied/worked in this town for ~9 years). They denied her because her New Jersey ID had a laminate…. Nj IDs have been laminated till a year or two ago. I checked her ID and she was a 1999 baby so her 21 year old ID was issued was issued FOUR years ago. Maybe the bar should get a scanner if they can’t validate identifications based of general knowledge…. When I pointed this fact out to them they were also incredibly rude to me and told me “the girl didn’t give them any push back”… NO DUH, I would not push back either. I would just take my business elsewhere. Which is what I did that evening. Honestly sad how many customers I watched them lose because my friends left with me. I had two drinks prior to going to this bar. I was very sober and conscious of the authority the bartenders were asserting on everyone in there. It’s rude, unprofessional, and uncalled for, no one deserves to be treated like they are worthless and that’s the way they treated EVERY female in the bar. I DO NOT recommend attending the milk parlor unless there is an event you are dying to go to. They will be rude, they will try to rip you off and I have experienced time and time again.
