Best fried chicken sandwich in dmv.

Generally speaking, I think Roaming Rooster makes some of the best fried chicken sandwiches in the region. That said, I was not thrilled with this location. The seats were sticky and caked on dirt. The lower walls were all pot marked and nicked up.

I recently visited your Woodmore location for the first time, and I want to share some feedback about my experience. Unfortunately, my visit did not meet expectations. While I was looking forward to trying Roaming Rooster for the first time, the service left much to be desired. I mistakenly thought my number had been called — I was number 17, and number 16 had just been announced. I approached the counter believing my order was next, only to be met with rude and dismissive behavior from the staff. A staff member (who I was told may have been the shift leader — she wore braids and glasses) loudly told me, “Your number is at the top of the receipt,” in a tone that felt unnecessarily condescending. Additionally, the environment was loud due to the volume of the music, which made it more difficult to clearly hear order numbers being called. To make matters worse, I was not given a proper receipt because the machine ran out of paper, and no one offered to reprint it. This added to the confusion when trying to verify my order. As someone who values good food and good service equally, I found this experience disappointing. I hope you will take this feedback into consideration to help improve customer service and training at this location. First impressions matter, and I genuinely hope future visits to your establishment reflect the positive reputation Roaming Rooster is known for.
Roaming Rooster - Burke, VA: A Hot Take on Nashville Heat and So Much More!
Alright, fellow food adventurers, let me tell you about our recent raid on Roaming Rooster in Burke. Now, I've seen the buzz online, with folks raving about their free-range, antibiotic-free chicken, and let me tell you, it lives up to the hype! For us, it was a solid five-star satiable meal, hitting all the right notes for taste and flavor.
We dove headfirst into a couple of their Nashville Hot Chicken sandwiches, and holy moly, they were fantastic. The chicken itself was perfectly crispy and juicy (except for one), but what really set it apart was the awesome cabbage and red onion slaw. It had this tangy, fresh crunch that just sang with the spicy chicken. Funnily enough, I had actually tried to mimic a similar slaw at home the night before without even knowing it – talk about culinary serendipity! And for those wondering, this Roaming Rooster location has been serving up these delights for about three years now, so they've definitely settled into their groove. It's truly a welcome change to the neighborhood, bringing a fresh, exciting option to the local food scene.
To round out our feast, we grabbed some french fries (because what's a chicken sandwich without them?), and to wash it all down, a refreshing Pepsi Zero and a decadent chocolate frozen custard. Seriously, it was all really, really good.
A Little Constructive Gobble
Now, no review is complete without a little honest feedback, right? While the flavors were on point, we did notice a slight inconsistency in the chicken breast thickness and frying between our two sandwiches. It's a small thing, but getting that uniform perfection would really take it to the next level.
And speaking of fries, ours had the skin on and weren't as plump as we might have hoped. This is where I think corporate might need to weigh in a bit. As you may know, consuming potato skins that contain glycoalkaloids can potentially aggravate intestinal inflammation in predisposed individuals. It's a small detail, but consistency in the fries – maybe plumper, crisper, and a decision on the skin – would make a good thing even better.
Also, it's worth noting that the prices could be more competitive. With single chicken sandwiches pushing $10-11, fries at $5, a Pepsi at $3, and a scoop of custard at $4, it can add up quickly. While the quality is there, more competitive pricing would definitely make it an even more frequent stop for many.
Overall, Roaming Rooster in Burke is definitely a winner in our book. If you're craving some top-notch fried chicken, especially with that Nashville kick, you've got to check them out. Have you had a chance to try their Nashville Hot yet, or do you have another favorite on their menu?

Came here two days in a row because I liked the chicken. Second day I asked to sub in coleslaw instead of bread for the chicken tenders. The cashier who was different from the first day was adamant that it can not be done and he had been there for many years. I literally had the same thing yesterday and the reason for it not being able to be swapped is a mystery to me. Hopefully not an issue for others the chicken is ok.

So I was ordering food with my dad. We love coming here, especially for Ramadan but I was disappointed because your seats from outside were closed already. We came around 9pm maybe 9:20:30 can’t really remember because we were waiting for the food of course we understand it’s busy so that didn’t bother us at all. We were just disappointed because we were wondering if you guys close at 10 why are the seats outside? Up already it was such a beautiful day, but it’s a shame, but we will be back. We love coming here but please for next time. Try not to close the outside, but we grabbed our food and we left. Home to go eat it.

not the best. over priced. no meal options so if you get a sandwich, fries, and a drink it’s about 20$. 20$ to make your stomach hurt, gave my boyfriend a severe stomach reaction after eating this. not food poisoning but definitely enough to irritate his stomach the whole next day after. again, for 20$ it’s not even that good lmao. lil cow is right next door and so much better.
I love this place. My fave hot chicken spot

Roaming Rooster is hands down one of the best spots for a delicious meal! The honey butter sandwich is absolutely amazing—perfectly crispy chicken with the right balance of sweetness and spice. The fries are just as good, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, making them the perfect side.
What really makes this place stand out is the staff. They are incredibly kind, welcoming, and always make sure you have a great experience. You’ll never feel turned away or rushed here, which makes the dining experience even better.
If you’re looking for an amazing place to eat with top-tier chicken and great service, Roaming Rooster is the spot. Highly recommend!

The honey butter chicken and fries is way too salt than it usually is. I had an extra honey butter sauce I used to drizzle on the fries, but I can still taste a lot of salt. Other than that everything else was fine.

I used to really like this place especially when they first opened up. But I think they're having quality control issues and I've noticed this at many other locations...maybe they need to revisit that, especially the slaw...maybe I'll try one more time again...
