Personal service and engaging conversation from owner - chef. Menu was fun and imaginative. Love the tapas style, can sample several different items. We ordered the Grilled Octopus with Artichokes, Torte Rustica, and Lasagne. Food was best we've had in many years. Lasagna was just as my Italian grandmother made, brought me back to my childhood. Wine was paired nicely. Do not pass up an opportunity to dine here, a must!

I am unsure of how this location has received so many positive reviews. I read all of the positive reviews but asked a local prior to going; I should have listened to the local who indicated it as not good....but I wanted to try a different Italian experience. I messaged owner for reservation and asked if they had food other than tapas because online menu says/shows lasagne, meatballs, etc. And the response was they have a 'mixed menu all delicious'. After arriving, we almost left several times; wish we had. We had to ask for menu, only one menu sheet for entire restaurant, so 4 of us had to share one menu. Person who brought menu could not answer any questions. We had to ask owner to explain items, no description, no prices....that should have been a hint. He was cooking, waiting on people, doing register, bringing out drinks, etc. Food was extremely disappointing, with all 4 of our foods brought out at a different time, person's long after others were finished. $23 for a small lukewarm lasagna with no sauce, meatballs look nothing like shown, artichokes were cold, which I had no idea of even after he explained. They have large loaves of bread displayed, so we asked for bread and got a small bowl of a few small thin slices of a baguette. Plus, I paid $4 for water because he brought me a small bottle...I just wanted water to drink...did not ask for bottled water and nowhere was that obvious.

If you’re in Cape Charles and you are not regularly visiting this gem of authentic Italian food and wine then you are missing out. I had delicious gnocchi, meatballs, tiramisu…all paired excellently with wine.

I cannot say enough good things about this place and its owners (but will try):

Firstly, the location is perfectly central in Cape Charles, so you can easily walk over after a beach day.
P & G are delightful owners, both helpful and certainly complementary in their hosting styles .
The food was fantastic: the children devoured the pasta in a few minutes , and the adults enjoyed the cheeses, prosciutto, perfectly -prepped tuna and well-seasoned mussels. The wine 🍷was (of course! , what with 2 native Italians at the helm) well-paired . I particularly enjoyed the Nero D’Avolo, but the Montepulciano was also lovely.

All in all, a wonderful, unique experience where we were made to feel like old friends . 😉 😘
We can’t wait to visit you all again!! ❤️ ☀️

Pane e Vino was a last minute pick on our trip to the Cape Charles area, and ended up being the best meal we had during our trip. My fiancé had the lasagna, and I had the gnocchi. Both were exquisitely prepared. They have an amazing wine selection, and the tiramisu was the best we’ve ever had! The owners were delightful, and the entire atmosphere was just so enjoyable. We will most definitely be back!

This is an exceptional place to dine. It's small, charming, clean and cozy inside. You immediately feel relaxed, but also as if you're having a special experience. The owners of this restaurant are kind and warm. Each comes to greet you and talk with you about the menu. The food was carefully crafted, beautiful, and delicious! We felt as though we were visiting their home and we were honored guests. Our experience was so impressive and delectable that we made a reservation to come back the next night. Between the two nights we tried a vast array of their menu, and nothing was less than extraordinary. We can not wait to visit Cape Charles again, just so we can go dine at this special place.

This place has such a unique charm in an already charming town. You are greeted with a genuine smile and enthusiasm as soon as you arrive. Couldn’t have been happier with the food, wine and the service. My girlfriend and I plan on coming back in the near future so we can spend more time here.

My daughter and I just walked in to see the menu because nothing was posted outside. Not sure if it was the owner a male and a female came up to us and asked us what we wanted. We told them we just wanted to see the menu. The gentleman was very rude and said there’s nothing to see here if you want to eat make an appointment to come in and then pretty much ushered us out the door. My grandmother is from Italy. My mother is Italian from South Philly. We know good Italian food and good Italian people. I can’t speak for the food because we did not eat there, but sadly, we were treated very rudely and we will never ever go there. We truly were shocked at how we were treated. This is our second year in Cape Charles and we will be back next year, but not there for dinner.

I'm going to reiterate one of the other reviews, not family friendly at all. We were a group of 4 with my 12 year old. Owners seem to have a stick in their arse when it comes to kids. I phoned ahead asking if I needed a reservation and was told 'of course just come' on arrival the guy kept asking if we had a reservation or not despite the restaurant being completely empty. I understand being proudly Italian and representing your food to it's truest, but I didn't even get the chance to make that decision for myself because I felt so unwelcome there I decided I'd take my business elsewhere
