We had heard great things about the Shanty and went for dinner. The service was substandard; we had to ask for water three times, the waiter knew the special was sold out but couldn't describe the substitute catch of the day and told my husband 'you could probably look that up on Google', and came to the table to take our order and abruptly left saying 'I have to go get something to write with' Also, my cutlery was dirty. The food was decent, but the outing was disappointing considering we spent almost $175 for a party of 4.

We’ve been here before, but never again. We were seated just after 11:30 for lunch. Service was slow for drinks and appetizers, but lunch took forever. My husband had ordered a burger, medium rare, it was well done and dry. My tacos were supposed to have avocado. Without it they looked almost empty and the food was cold. This used to be a good place to go and the food was good, but it’s off my list, probably forever.

Best spot for dinner in Cape Charles! We liked it so much we went back a few times on our visit to town. Our wait staff was great as well. Definitely looking forward to coming back already!

My husband and I arrived at 7:00 pm and were seated at 8:45 pm. The hush puppies were delicious! We both were very disappointed in our entrees. I had stuffed flounder. The entree arrived with two pieces of asparagus, cold potatoes, and a warm piece of flounder with no stuffing. My husband had beef tips. He commented the tips were good, but the dish was not hot. We asked about dessert at the end of the meal. The response was the restaurant was closed. Leaving with a tab of over $100 with no drinks, we were sadly disappointed with our experience.

Stopped here on a family vacation. The food was mediocre and the service was slow. Not worth the wait.

Thought this was a nice place. Food & drinks were good. Not a huge selection to choose from but we would go back again

The lobster roll seemed like frozen lobster tossed in a little mayonnaise without anything added to it. Untoasted bun. Not Maine style or Connecticut. Disappointed for the price. The hot dog was fine.

The most excellant lobster rolls on US 13.Next to Royal Farms on the southbound side, so big trucks can procure this master piece of sea food.Fantastic on the go lobster rolls.

Great food with an amazing view! Loved the carnitas tacos and my mom loved the crab cake sandwich. Will definitely find our way back again.
This place came highly recommended by our AirBNB host. We tried it for dinner our last night. I ordered a dozen steamed oysters, with crackers and cocktail sauce. Waitress said they don't have saltine crackers, only the small oyster crackers. So, that changed my order to the scallops. That came with the "vegetable of the day", which she said was asparagus. When my meal arrived, it was brussel sprouts, and not asparagus. The food was very good, but those nusances don't set well with me.

Really decent amount of lobster, delicious with butter and warmed up. Prices went up but still worth it.

Nice setting on the water. It is a very causal setting/bar like atmosphere. Food was average at best. Portion size was quite underwhelming, plating/presentation was non-existent. as there were no garnishes (lemon, greens, etc.) and a bit overpriced in my opinion. Crab dip was good, albeit served with stale chips. Entree of fried fish was small and unappealing. Corn on the cob was undercooked and cold. Side of Mac and Cheese was quite good. Appetizer of clams in wine sauce was good. Spent about $150 with tip for 2 apps., 2 entrees, and 1 beer. I’m sure the water side setting drives the price, but we were disappointed with the overall dining experience.
