Service was great n good vibes, food definitely over priced for the amount that has been spent n still leave hungry, cooks need to watch the deep fryers a little more and stop over cooking. One entree we wanted n was told she wouldn’t cause the cooks either under or over cook that it never comes out right

On 15 June 2025 ordered "fried flounder & chips". I received a thick, white flaky, moist piece of fish that was obviously not flounder. Asked to speak to manager (Adam Travis), showed him the fish, all he did was dispute me, no apology offered. Went back the next day for lunch and the first thing the waitress said was "we are out of the flounder & chips". I asked when they ran out.. you guessed it, "yesterday afternoon". Sadly the food is good, just wish the Manager had been honest!!!

We felt very unwelcomed by some staff. We wanted to sub some sides and per the staff it wasn’t allowed even for an extra charge and they sat us at a high top table when we told them several times we had two toddlers who needed high chairs. When we received the high top chairs, they were stacked on top of one another and were very unsafe to reach the level of the high top. We asked to switch tables to an empty table, they said no. Then when it came time for the check, we were never given a paper copy of the check. Just the tablet with the total and no individual charges. We will not be back due to the way the staff was. Not to mention, we tried to eat here a few nights ago and it was an hour and half wait, cool. We’ll wait, but then when asked if we would be rushed out after waiting, since we wouldn’t sit down till 8:30 and they close at 9, the answer was yes. Great food though.

The so called seafood chowder was awful. Also I couldn't believe they asked if we wanted to sit outside, in the pouring rain.

Food was good. We had the burger and the fish tacos (Mahi-mahi). Homemade chips were good. Walked in at 20:30 and we're told that they were not seating anymore for the night. But the bar was open. Luckily as we approached the bar, 2 seats came open, otherwise we would've been circling the bar like a sharks circling a surfer.

Food was not great. Small portions not very tasty. Just ok. Service was friendly but slow and kind of absent. The coconut lemonade cocktail was very good and refreshing.

We were a party of four and we arrived around 4:30 which landed us a prime table overlooking the small harbor there in Cape Charles. The draft beer options were a bit limited but we managed. Our server, Kylei, was very attentive and made sure we never went without anything. We were a little early for dinner entrees, but the lighter fare we ordered was perfect and a good time was had by all. I'm not sure why a draft beer needs to cost $10 but the cost of eating out is not for the faint of heart these days. If you're on the Eastern Shore of Virginia and looking for a rustic eatery sitting in the middle of a small harbor, The Shanty is the place for you.
We absolutely love this little 'gem' we found on our travels to Ocean City, MD from RVA. Food doesn't disappoint and the atmosphere is perfect for water lovers. Service is typically good but can be a little better at times.

Need more organization with management. Wait, staff need to be more efficient and aware of the dining area needs, seating people, and clearing tables. We ended up moving to the bar area. The bartending staff was exceptionally attentive and friendly. Awesome drinks. Love your place with great location and atmosphere.
