Whenever we have the chance to be back in the DMV area, we always make time to stop by our favorite local restaurant Ciao Osteria. Located in an unassuming strip mall in Centreville, owners Sal and Gina along with Chef Antonio ensure the food and service are the best. Yesterday we were able to pop in for a quick appetizer and wood fired pizza. Fresh authentic Italian tastes are what make this such a neighborhood gem. Be brave and try the Polipo alla griglia ( grilled octopus) it’s the best!

THE POSITIVE: The food was outstanding. And I don't say that often. It was on the expensive side, but worth it for excellent food. The pizza and chicken parmesan was was amazing. And it should be illegal for Tiramisu to taste that good. Over the top amazing.
THE NEGATIVE: Unfortunately, the services was mediocre to poor. Not only was it exceptionally slow (they were busy for a Sunday), but they got the order wrong more than once. My father-in-law ordered a Fairwinds IPA, but they brought the lager instead. After he tried it, I didn't want to send it back. We ordered an extra topping on the pizza, but the pizza didn't have the extra topping. I didn't mention the error because we had waited so long for the food, who knows how long we might have waited for a correction. Overall the stay was about 2:15. It would have been an hour less with faster service.
Shout out to Chase, the manager on duty, who jumped in to help a few times because the server was completely overloaded and overwhelmed. Overall, the poor service really detracted from the overall experience. If the service was a good as the food, this would have been 5 stars and I would probably be a regular customer. But because of the poor service, I'm not sure I will go back.
There is an old saying in the restaurant business: Great service can make up for mediocre food, but great food cannot make up for mediocre service.

We had a great celebration for my parents 50th Anniversary. The reservation was easy to make. On arrival the table was ready and we were greeted with many warm smiles. The staff and our waiter Brad were quick and very helpful throughout the entire evening. We ordered a number of starters and entres. Each item was delicious. Tiramisu and Pistachio Cheesecake finished off the night the right way. Thank you.

Lasagna contained more meat than pasta and was very salty. When I complained, they refused to issue a refund.

Honestly… this isn’t me trying to be mean but this place kinda sucks… the food is not good, my fettuccine Alfredo tasted like milk poured over noodles. Our server was nice though. However, the other servers and staff all stand in the corner looking at the tables and talking which I think is unprofessional. Overall, I wouldn’t eat here again just because it’s really overpriced and lacks quality.

Sal, the owner, is one of the most incredible men I’ve ever met. He has a heart of gold and is always giving back to first responders and the community.
