A good place to have some Malaysian food in Centreville, Virginia. The service was good and the food was great. No regrets on either point.Of course like any other Malaysian restaurant, we had to order Roti Canai from the appetizer menu and it was amazing. My son just loved the hot, fresh, flaky roti that he asked to order more. We also ordered Chicken Satay which was nice, juicy and flavorful. For the main course, we ordered Malaysian style fried rice which is a combination of chicken, shrimp and tofu as well and comes with pan fried egg on top. Definitely worth it. We also ordered Beef Rendang and Nyonya curry fish fillet. Fish was good but the curry was a little on the saltier and sour side. Believe it might have been tamarind or something similar to give that sour taste. Beef Rendang definitely was on the top with Roti Canai. Tender pieces of beef in a spicy curry. A must try.The prices were reasonable not extravagant like we see nowadays and the quantity was good for the price.Anyone looking for a Malaysian restaurant which is not too fancy, not expensive but has good service and good food, check this one out.Parking: Plenty of parking in the shopping plaza.Kid-friendliness: There were families with the kids and the kids seem to be enjoying their time.My kids are a little older but they enjoyed the food especially Roti Canai.

We just came for our third visit, so it seemed time to leave a review! We’ve tried maybe 10 different dishes here, and while everything is delicious, you cannot miss the roti canai or the black sesame mochi for dessert. Nyonya chicken and beef rendang have been repeat orders, too.

I grew up in Malaysia and so I consider myself a discerning judge of Malaysian food. Kopitiam is owned by Malaysians and the chef is from Malaysian so they understand what tastes authentic. I love the roti canai and the poh piah (only available on weekends) as starters and I adore the soup noodles. The restaurant has lots of free parking. The setting is casual without being down market and is both vegetarian and family friendly. I am a massive fan of this restaurant and highly recommend it.

Delicious, authentic Malaysian food. Pretty satisfied with the taste, a little pricey for the portion but worth every penny!

Writing this review from the perspective of how well the items match what I'm accustomed to eating in Indonesia and Taiwan.Rendang--reasonable portions relative to price and the tenderness was better than I expected, but not quite what you'll get from a Padang spot or local cook who's been massaging the beef by hand for hours. I don't know if Malaysian Rendang is different from Indonesian, but the flavor was a little different than what I know. Don't get me wrong...it was delicious, but different.Nasi Goreng--excellent Nas Gor! A deep smoky flavor from the wok and good portion size. I think if you're new to this kind of cuisine then the Nas Gor presents a good introduction.Oyster Omelet--prefacing this review by caveating I have only had oyster omelets in Taiwan. I wasn't impressed. The omelet was overcooked and there weren't many oysters. Again, maybe this is a Malaysian difference, but not what I anticipated. The Sambal Ijo was a bit different. It had a VERY strong flavor of shrimp paste which is typical of terasi, but in my experience not expected in ijo. Didn't come on the food and was requested so no harm, no foul. It was spicy so that was redeeming.Service was great and I found the owners to be sweet and welcoming. Prices are very reasonable and I would return if in the Chantilly area.

Very attentive waiter, the food was good. Went with Asian friends who said the quality of the noodles and the way they were cooked were just right. Prices are fair. We will return.

My first experience with Malaysian food and I was not disappointed! My wife and I had the Nasi Gorang and the Nyona fish curry, both dishes were excellent. The fish curry was tangy and uplifting mixed well with the fried fish fillet. The Nasi Gorang came with a large portion and had nice amounts of shrimp and chicken. Both dishes were will seasoned and tasty. The restaurant is also fully halal! Will definitely be back soon to try more of the menu!Dietary restrictions: Halal meat

The food here is fantastic!I got the Malaysian curry lamb, and while I was a little underwhelmed at how much it comes with for the price, the taste itself was well worth it.The vegetable soup was also amazingly flavorful, especially compared to the average vegetarian offerings at other restaurants.I will definitely be returning.
