The best sushi place in the U.S.
I have been all around the States trying sushi places and this place is undoubtedly the BEST
Thank you Matsu

Awesome spot! Just wish the dishes didn’t all come out at the same time when you order a few.

Come here all the time but today I found a long black hair in my salad. Had to pull it out of my mouth. I didn’t get anything comp’d but did get an apology. The food is great but they really need to up their service game.

Love this place! Best lunch menu. Love their chicken teriyaki that isn’t sweet and comes on a sizzling hot plate so your chicken & veggies are nice and slightly burnt. So yummy!

Very yummy sushi with great and unique options! Also my favorite gyoza that was perfectly crispy. Will definitely be back to try more of their sushi menu!

The sushi here is really good and we go there almost every week. We usually dine in and it’s fine most recently. I noticed that every time I order takeout now,
They charge two dollars for a small pack of spicy mayo. Even when a customer is ordering over $100 worth of sushi to go. I don’t know, it just rubbed me the wrong way for a “nice” restaurant to do this

I've been going to Matsu since it opened up 22 years ago. It's been one of my favorite Japanese restaurants over the years and it has maintained a top spot all this time! Great and comforting food, great service, good prices. Recommend 10/10.

I ordered Matsu Platter as indicated on the online menu-22piece sushi, 30 Piece sashimi and 30 piece sushi rolls for 155 dollars. But the price is increased to 175 dollars on the table menu.
The real problem was not the price.
They brought the boat instead of the platter. That means the boat contained just two thirds of food I had ordered.
So I complained about it and the owner kept saying it was the same as the platter
Which was not true. I wouldn’t go back anymore.

We had a wonderful meal at Matsu on a Sunday night. We ordered hungry. Teriyaki Chicken Dinner combo, Unagi Don, Matsu Soup and 4 rolls, (plus hot saki because it was cold in there!) When it came, it was beautifully presented, fresh, and excellent. It was so good, we ate it all! Paired with the attentive and courteous service, this place is an easy 5 stars! We will be back, and will try the Korean dishes next time!

Very welcoming when you first walk in. The best sushi and sashimi in Northern Virginia. Fun specialty rolls, like the Too Too Funky roll.

Consistent - they are a little stingy with the miso soup, but the sushi is always good
